Indonesia in Brief

Indonesia is an intercontinental country having 17,508 islands. Its

population reaches more or less 237 millions and is estimated to

continue growing and reaching to 315 millions in 2035. With area of

1,919,440 kilometer square, Indonesia is the 16th world’s vastest

country. Indonesia is also known as having the largest Moslem

population in the world. There are five big islands in Indonesia. They are

Sumatera, Sulawesi, Java, Kalimantan and Papua. Java is the most

populated island of the country. Many kinds of race, ethnic, language and

religion live and grow in Indonesia, including faith in supernatural beings

and relics, as well as syncretism between local beliefs and one of five

religions, such as Islam Kejawen, which is an assimilation of Islam and

local belief. Biological diversity in Indonesia is the world’s second largest

after Brazil. Some endangered endemic fauna live in Indonesia, such as

Anoa (Sulawesi), Orang Utan (Kalimantan), One-horned Rhinoceros

(Java) and Sumatran Tiger (Sumatra). Indonesia had many cultures which

is as a collaboration in modern lifestyle nowdays. Wonderful Indonesia!

Rupiah (RP) is the official currrency of Indonesia. Issued and

controlled by Bank of Indonesia (BI). Indonesia smallest current note is

1000 (thousand rupiah) and the second smallest note is 2000 (two

thousand rupiah). Small transaction such as bus fares and parking

typically conducted with these note. The 1000 note is also in coin. The

biggest note is 100.000. Major world currencies in the form of cash or

traveler cheques can be easily converted in Indonesia Rupiah in banks,

authorized money changers (dont forget your passport) and chasier’s

desk in your hotel.

Explore Bogor Bogor is a unassuming little town somewhere on a highland (290 m

above sea level) yet not quite and just about an hour away from the

main city Jakarta. It used to be the capital of Indonesia during the Dutch

occupation and now a popular place for the Jakarta elites to have a

summer home or for a cooling hideaway from the city.

How to get BOGOR ?

First of all you need to fly into Jakarta, the nearest airport to Bogor,

then make you way there via these transports:

By Car or Taxi

The easiest way to get here and also to go around nearby places,

you can rent a car with driver if you are in a group and can afford to

spare or take a taxi. It will take about 1-2 hours drive to get there

depending on traffic. Try to avoid peak hours in the morning (6am-

10am) and (4pm-7pm) evening.

By Commuter Line

You can take the local commuter line from almost any station to get

to Bogor.

By Bus

You can find Damri (integrated bus) easily in airport. There are

many types of buses which is Executive (with air condition) around

Rp55.000 until Rp85.000 and stop in Botani Terminal.

By Angkot

This is the favourite method of the locals, being the cheapest and

also better in twisting around the jams, this minibuses will take you

there in the maximum priced of 1000 Rp. First you need to catch an

angkot from Kampung Rambutan (bus station) and ask to take to

Cisalak. At Cisalak you would need to switch and find another angkot

to take you all the way to Bogor.

Life in BOGOR The living cost in Bogor is very cheap. For three times eat a daym it

costs around ($ 4-6), which USD 1 equal to IDR 12.000 - 13.000. If you

stay at dorm, you just need to pay around ($ 55 - 85)/ month.
