Matthew 6:9-139 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come,

your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.’

1.1. We are All Sinners

† The Bible affirms that we are all sinners and fallen beings (Romans 3:23).

† Sin separates and damages our relationship with the Lord (Isaiah 59:2).

† We thus deserve to suffer the consequences of our sins (Romans 6:23).

1.2. We Need God’s Forgiveness

† We truly need to be forgiven by God for all our sins for we need it (Psalm 130:3).

† We must repent & seek God’s forgiveness that we may be forgiven by Him (Acts 3:19).

† God has forgiven us through the works of Christ on our behalf (Ephesians 1:7).

2.2 Parable of Forgiveness

Matthew 18:21-22, 35 (Read Matthew 18:21-35)21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times…35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”
