2. Ynglinga Saga (To Odin We Call)

He came from the land of AsalandThe ruler of AsgardFrom the land of ice and snow

He conquered all of SaxlandAnd the giants of JotunheimThe ravens fly where he'll go

A wise and travelled warrior,a cunning enemyTaking what we sacrificeAcross the rainbow bridge

Giving strength in battle, giving victoryOdin's chosen heroesMay cross the rainbow bridge

Hear the thunderThe sky is cracksSee the rainbow bridgeThere's no turning back

Valkyrs riding a bloody trailHeroes cross to Asgard, never fail

To Odin we call– in his name we will fightRiding on dragons through the wavesAnd the gods on our sideTo Odin we call –in his name we will fight

Page 5: Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland – The history of the Vikings Vol. 1

Summon the valkyrs in the skyOn the wings of death we ride

The power of the SkaldsAnd the magic of the runesHe taught to us who sacrificeBy the cold light of the moon

The father of the YnglingaThe house of our kingsThe battle sound amuses himAnd battle we shall bring

Mad as wild dogsStrong as the bearI bite my shield in angerLife I never spare

A deadly blow, as cold as iceThe power of the berserk, take your life

To Odin we call– in his name we will fightRiding on dragons through the wavesAnd the gods on our sideTo Odin we call –in his name we will fightSummon the valkyrs in the skyOn the wings of death we ride

Hear the thunderThe sky is cracksSee the rainbow bridgeThere's no turning back

Valkyrs riding a bloody trailHeroes cross to Asgard, never fail

To Odin we call –in his name we will fight

Page 6: Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland – The history of the Vikings Vol. 1

Riding on dragons through the wavesAnd the gods on our sideTo Odin we call –in his name we will fightSummon the valkyrs in the skyOn the wings of death we ride

And the gods are on our side...

3. The Sons Of The Dragon Slayer

Regnat the Dragon Slayer, king of sea and landWhen people spot your sailthey fear the sword that's in your handI was born your sonand with my brothers I sailed outTo feed the ravens, steal the goldwhere battle rages loud

You had to go to Englandwith the few men you could gainAnd outnumbered ten to one your heroesthey were slainYou searched for death in battlebut the falling light of daySaw you as a prisoner in chainsthey dragged you away

In a pit of snakesBy vermin's breathDie you lost your lifeNo honour in such a death

The sons of the dragon slayerAll for one we standWe'll cut the blood eagleAnd your life shall soak the landThe sons of the dragon slayerKing Ella you'll repentI'll cut the blood eagleAnd your life shall soak your land

Ivar my brother king of Londonlet me knowHe bribed the English noblesso king Ella stands aloneNow's the time to gather mento play the bloody game

Page 8: Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland – The history of the Vikings Vol. 1

Take their lives and spill their bloodto wash away the shame

Long boats touch the sand.Northern warriors steel in handThe enemy is weak,no way to defendRunning through the lines, falling on a fearing preyRognar's sons deal hard. And in the end they win the day

In a lake of bloodKing Ella's deathDie hard die slowly dieThe blood eagle drinks your breath

The sons of the dragon slayerAll for one we standWe'll cut the blood eagleAnd your life shall soak the landThe sons of the dragon slayerKing Ella you'll repentI'll cut the blood eagleAnd your life shall soak your land

And the lonely one is strong

And we got our friendsto count onThrough the hard times and the rainSo we'll never play your rulesIt is our life it is our game

Ragnhild the daughter of Sigurd HjortHer father murdered and she was takenFar away across the fjord,a slave to be her fate forsaken

Halfdan the black the king of AgderHe heard about her beauty and her sadness in lifeRescue the lady make her a queen, set free a slave, gain a wife

There's greatness and grace for the northern raceA strong hand to come,a king for the throneHe shall lead Norway on

Ragnhild's dream.A thorn in her handgrows a tree so highRagnhild's dream.Rooted in bloodbut the branches reach for the sky

A strong han to come, reach for the sun in the sky

Their son is born a child of beautyCrows a young man strong and fairHarald Harfarger, Halfdan's sonLooking for dangersfew man dare

King Halfdan he died at the age of fortyLeaving his people to Odin he rodeHarald must rule the kingdom of AgderPraying to Thor, fate will unfold

5. Harald Harfager

My father died when I was ten years oldMany kings looked at my landsthriving to get a holdBut I was old enough to hold a swordand strong enough to fightKing Gandalf lost his life.Eystein's sons in cold earth they lie

Now I am a mighty kingbroad lands I ownTime has come to find a wifeso lonely in my throneGyda of Hardanger greater beauty eyeswill never seeMy men you go and bade her greetingsask her to marry me

Go and tell king HaraldI will not marry himuntil he has subdued the whole of NorwayFor only than can he be called a great king

I make the solemn vow that never shall I clip or comb my hairUntil I have subdued the whole of Norwayor if not have died in the attempt

In Orkedalen king Gryting was beatOn his knees he prayed to be my man

Eight battles I fought with the hostI leadBut now Drontheim is in my hand

Arnvid and Audbjorn I met them on the wavesOf their dragons there were many aroundBut I was mad with angermy bloodlust ablaze

Page 12: Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland – The history of the Vikings Vol. 1

And so I sent their shipsto the ground

I'm standing proud and tallHarald Halfager on your knees you fallUnited in my handThe king of Norway my fatherland

Bow to the king of Norway's throneUnited the crown in his aloneNow I will comb my hairA firm hand to lead the country onUnited to hold on hold and strongA king so young and fair

I am the king and my word is the lawBow your head or you'll repentEric the Red your freedom's no moreLay down your sword or leave my land

Good men leave or good man dieBut the king stands proud and tallGrayskin you'll rule, son of mineCause I can hear the Valkyrs call

I'm standing proud and tallHarald Harfager on your knees you fall

Bow to the king of Norway's throneUnited the crown in his aloneNow I will comb my hairA firm hand to lead the country onUnited to hold on hold and strongA king so young and fair

[Speech]Fresh from the battle field came inDripping with blood the Norsemen's kingWith battered shield and blood smeared swordSlits one beside the shores of Stord

Page 13: Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland – The history of the Vikings Vol. 1

With armour crushed and gashed sits heA grim and gastly sight to seeAnd round about in sorrow standThe warriors of this gallant band

In Odin's hall an empty placeStands for a king of Yngves raceGo my Valkyries Odin saidGo forth my angels of the deadGondul and Skogul to the plainDrenched with the battles bloody rainAnd to the dying Harald tellHere in Valhal he shall dwell

6. Eric The Red

Away from Iceland's shores I must, the king says I must goSome neighbours asked a fight with meand I laid their bodies low

Now my face is in the wind againand friends are by my sideThe green land we are looking forand we trust in Odin's might

Come join me now I know the way,(We'll be free!)No king to rule us down(Ride the sea!)Man the boats and hoist the sails,(All hands on deck!)There's land to find I know,(Don't look back!)

Through the wind and storm I'll carry onTo a new land where the sun will dawnIn the wind and storm I'll raise my headEric the Red

My son I see the fire in your eyesas I felt when I was youngAnd I've listened to the Skalds and tales, you've gotta go as I have done

But it's your way Leif Eriksson, the Red has come too oldThe Vinland you will find I know,Ride the wind be strong and bold

Come join me now I know the way,(We'll be free!)No king to rule us down

7. Freedom(The Saga Of Gang Hrolf)

I fought like a free manso I broke the lawThe way of the vikings don't counthere no moreAnd strong is the arm of the tyrant that rulesThe Jarls of the freethey were taken like fools

So friends come aboardand away on the seaThe shores of France seema promise to meBattles to be foughttheir king he is weakThere's land to be takena fortune to seek

'Cause we'll stay freeA master of the waves a wolf of the sea'Cause we'll stay free

Ho ho Gang HrolfHo ho Gang Hrolf

Freedom is the goalthat you fight for in lifeLet no tyrant take it awayFreedom is all that is left on my handsAnd a wolf of the see I shall stay

8. Treason

Our lives have turned sadThe harvest again was badAnd it's growing worsehungry children cry

They pray to a new godwhile their people dieBut fortune does not grow from a lie

What is our hope when kings betraySigurd was too strong but in ambush they layHis brother helped and he was paid in goldNow Sigurd lies dead bloodless and cold

Treason dwells in our kingHe lies betrays and kills at nightWhat fortune can it bring?Treason walks in this landThe Grayskin murderssmile on his faceBut blood is on his hands

King Tryggve was strongAnd Erik's sons feared him wellSo in the dark of the nightHe was stabbed and fellAnd Sigurd's son they tried to buyBut he remembered his fatherand saw the lie

Treason dwells in our kingHe lies betrays and kills at nightWhat fortune can it bring?Treason walks in this landThe Grayskin murderssmile on his faceBut blood is on his hands.

9. Sword In The Storm(The Saga Of Earl Hakon, Protector Of Norway)

Come Skald sit thee with usand tell us of the pastThe deeds of viking warriorsin your songs they'll ever last

We long to hear of Hakon, the Earl of Norway's shoresOr how he killed the Gravskinand stood the Jomsburg force

He was born the son of Sigurd, his father stabbed by royal handsHe escaped and turned a viking, his frame spread across the lands

And on the day he faced the Gravskin, anger wished just like a burning floodHakon the maker of widows taking livesas his blade drinks blood

The fish return now into the fjord, the harvest rich Hakon we hail thy swordRaising temples where a church did stand.Odin smiles to praise the land

Sword in the storm, the rock in the battleHakon you stand and be Odin thy guideStrong be thy arm, oh sword in the stormThor grant you strength to defend what is right

And when the viking of the Jomsburgset their sails against our shoresStrong in numbers famous heroes,Hakon you fought them to the core

And in the middle of the bloodshed,

Page 20: Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland – The history of the Vikings Vol. 1

standing strong I saw your hands reach for the skyCalling for help in the turmoil,Odin took your son as a sacrifice

But in the end of people askedfor the reign of a Christian kingBetraying Hakon they soon forgotthe good his rule did bringIn his sleep, killed by a thralla hero's bitter endTrygve's son was to succeedto rule the Northern Land

10. Blood Rains(The Saga Of King Olaf Trygvason)

On the blackened eve of destructionA king arises with thepromise of lightBut the Jarls who held him highWere soon to see that they followed a lie

Wise magicians and healing womenPut to the stake by royal handsBaptized they would not beAnd so in flames their life did end

Odin thy faceIt fades in the bloodThe heathen oaks burnedIt's the end of a god

Blood rains from the skyLove is just a Christian lullabyI can't believe I'd rather dieBlood rains from the skyPreaching love while tortured victims cryI won't believe I'd rather die

Bondes who would not dip in the waterAt the Althing he had put them deadA royal smile a lie on the lipsBelieve in Christ or drink burning lead

Raud a mighty Jarl on the isleHe was taken at nightand tried to a stakeHis house on flamesYet he would not fold his handsCondemned to deathHe had to swallow a snake

11. Ruling The Waves

I have been on viking cruises, taking what they wouldn't giveSacrifice to Njord the master of the waveson which I live

Now I found a king to follow, now I serve the Forked BeardSven the son of Harald Bluetooth,King of Denmark knows and feared

To England – our dragons had to rideTo help the beaten Aethelred – thePicts we must fight

And many – a hero died that dayI raged with bloodlustand I cut their lives away

And so we beat them on a fieldof gore and boneBut there is a price to pay,the English should have known

Aethelred, oh Aethelred –your kingdom now is goneThe king of Denmark takes your crows, oh you should have known

The northern sea he rules,Denmark and England he unitesThe norsemen rule the waves and king Sven holds all the mightThe Forked Beard he rulesand like the devil we will fightWe rule the waves.Fear the vikings pride

Hey, hey – we are ruling the waves...

Page 24: Rebellion - Sagas of Iceland – The history of the Vikings Vol. 1

We burn the churches and the crossThe serpents of the crucified, their lives are at a loss

Sven prays to Odin and to ThorThe power of the ancient godswho dwelt here long before

And so we hunt thosewho have burnt the oak trees downThe heathen roots run deepthe ancient gods are still around

Crucified, oh crucified, you should have knownYour time has not yet comeand so we burn your houses down

The northern sea he rules,Denmark and England he unitesThe norsemen rule the wavesand king Sven holds all the mightThe Forked Beard he rulesand like the devil we will fightWe rule the waves.Fear the vikings pride

Hey, hey – we are ruling the waves...
