Hi, and welcome to My Pearson Training. In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Realize and Google Drive together, by sharing your files with students in Realize.

Google Classroom Integration
With the new Google Drive integration, you can use your own files in Realize. Add links from your Google Drive directly into your Realize lessons, and quickly assign those links to your students. For example, teachers can upload files to customize lesson content, teachers and students can upload files as attachments to discussion board posts, and students can upload files to their assignment submissions. Teachers can also add files that can be used for front-of-class instruction.

Requirements
Users will need a Google account in order to use the Google Drive integration features in Realize. Either a personal Google account or a district-provided G Suite for Education account will work.

Sign in to Google
The first time a teacher or student adds a file from his or her Google Drive they need to “allow” Google to talk with Realize. This only needs to be done once for the Google account they are using in conjunction with Realize. If the teacher or student tries to add a file from Google Drive from within Realize and he or she is not logged into Google, they will be asked to login. The Google account that they select will determine which Google Drive content they see when they use the new Google Drive integration features in Realize.

Sharing Content
Teachers will find the Attach from Google Drive button in the Create content menu. This is a global Realize feature.
To attach an item from Google Drive:
1. From the Table of Contents, Click the Create Content menu.
2. Click the Attach from Google Drive button.
3. You will see your files, and any files that are shared with you. Select the file you wish to use.
Now you can assign the document to your students.

Teacher Assignments
Assigning a Google Doc or Sheet from Realize links students to the same file on the teacher’s Google Drive. Files added to Realize from a Google Drive remain on the Google Drive; Realize links to the file, and does not upload the file. You are not limited by the file types and the file size limitations in Realize. Note that Realize does not support a unique document for each student.

Student Assignments
Students without a Google account can access files that teachers assign; provided that the teacher configured the sharing settings appropriately in Google Drive for the file. All students will see the Attach files from Google Drive option in discussion posts and when submitting assignments. Students with a Google account can also link to files in their Google Drive when submitting assignments.

Tracking Data
Once a file is attached and assigned from Google Drive, the work will be accessed, tracked, and can be graded within Realize.
