Davis Architects is an innovative Design driven Architectural Practice based in Byron Bay NSW. We undertake projects throughout the Northern Rivers and mid north coast areas. Working in a very diverse range of locations allows us to think of each project as completely unique and new design challenge.

The Short St Residences located in Byron Bay comprise two separate residences on a standard house block. The brief was to create a “Main Residence” for the Owners to live in and a secondary residence that could be rented out or sold at a later time. Due to the proximity of neighboring dwellings either side, the design shifts it’s focus towards the north, honing in on the water views and the prevailing cooling summer breezes. The main living spaces of the house feature a dual, north-south aspect which creates an illusion of space, allowing for cross flow ventilation and framing the views of the Bay beyond. Outdoor entertaining can be varied easily on either side of the building to suit the weather conditions. The result is a house that is comfortable all year round.
