OtherruntimerequirementswillbeinstalledbyXConnectSetup.

IMPLEMENTATION

Thedynamicwebpagesuseserver-sideActiveServerPage(ASP)toaccepttheuserinputwithinbrowsers,retrievethedatafromthedatabase,formatitintoExtensibleMarkupLanguage(XML)anduseExtensibleStylesheetLanguageTransformations(XSLT)toformatthedataintoviewablewebpages.

TheASPpagesdisplayformswhichtheusercanusetoselectinputs,suchasstationname,sensorname,timerangeandsubmitbuttons.Whentheuserclicksthesubmitbut-tonwithinthebrowser,therequestissenttotheserver.

ASPpagesinterprettherequestandgenerateproperSQLstringstoretrievedatafromthedatabase.ThedataisreturnedinanADOresultset.ThenthesameASPcreatestheXMLobjectandstoresthedatainit.Itthenreturnsthedatawithpre-definedXSLTpagesastheresponsebacktouser.

Thebrowserrendersthepagewiththeuser’spreferredstyle,lookandfeel.

Therearetwokeycomponentstoimplementation.Thefirstisthedata,whichisinXMLformat.Theotheristheformat,whichispre-definedinXSLTstylesheets.

AlldatareturnedtotheclientsareinXMLformat.ASPandXSLTprogramsareprovidedintheformofsourcecodetoexpeditefurthercustomization.
