• Air filters: clean them regularly to remove any fire hazards, prevent al-lergen build-up and allow

your furnace to work at optimum capacity.

• Cables and Wires: check all of your furnaces electrical connections for damage and wear.

That crisp feeling of autumn is in the air. As fall approaches, what can do you do to make your home show it’s best? Top home stagers share their tips for making your home for sale look its best.

1. Create cozy spaces. As the days get shorter, our thoughts often turn to the comforts of home. “Highlight the warmth of your home in little ways. Keep a throw blanket on the sofa, cre-ate a cozy seating area, or add candles with fall scents for an intimate setting,” says the Naly Yang of NestDesignDC. “Turn up the thermostat to a comfort-able temperature and set up a coffee and snack station.”

2. Don’t go overboard with seasonal decor. “Your home should reflect what is happening outdoors, but you don’t want to add too many things that will detract attention from the fea-tures of the home,” says Jill Valeri, owner of “The Welcome Home” Interior Design Solutions . “For example, add an attractive but sim-ple wreath to the front door or opt for curtains with warm colors and more texture.”

3. Exude the feeling of a luxury resort with sumptuous bed-ding. “Buy fluffy white or cream-colored “hotel” linens,” says Starr C. Osborne is the author of Home Staging That Works. “You will be amazed how this will perk up your décor.”

4. Brighten up. “As the days grow shorter, make sure you have generous artificial light to supplement daylight,” says Valeri.

5. Warm up the room. “Painting a room a warmer color can dras-tically change the atmosphere,” says Yang.

Imagine using just pleated shades for starters, then as the cash flow improves, dressing them up with drapes and a beautiful rod.

• Wood blinds look great and are a favourite. They come in a range of neutral colours and slat sizes. Another choice you have is between real wood and the look of real wood. And, once again, with the passing of time you may chose to frame wood blinds with ready-made
