Ready-to-use solution for compact and modular AHUs
k.vent: ready-to-use solution for compact and modular AHUsThe most recent buildings comply with high energy efficiency requirements, reducing thermal exchange and, at the same time, maintaining correct air change.
Energy saving & system optimisationIntelligent control strategies to manage all active parts of the AHU, optimising functions and energy efficiency through PID optimising algorithms
The market requires specific ventilation units to guarantee indoor air quality in buildings and personal comfort, together with the highest energy efficiency.CAREL k.Vent is a unique controller solution that guarantees high efficiency for ventilation units, from simple heat recovery units up to complex AHUs with built-in refrigeration circuit.Regulation (EC) No. 1253/2014 of the July 7 2014, concerning the environmental specifications of ventilation units requires specific features mainly aimed at reducing the energy consumption of buildings. The new k.Vent solution is designed to meet the needs of all air handling

units, the result of CAREL’s analysis and experience in air handling unit applications and following current and future market requirements. This new generation of controllers is based on the latest CAREL technology: a powerful platform and advanced control algorithms to interconnect and optimise control of every part of the AHU.The unique wizard that guides users through the configuration means no programming skills are required saving up to 70% of typical set-up time. The controller can be configured directly on the HMI or by a special PC configuration tool; fast upload directly from PC or USB KEY.
One fits allOne solution with hundreds of integrated configurations is the key to customisation. Selectable parameters and funtions mean k.Vent can be sued with any ventilation equipment, from small residential heat recovery units to complex industrial air handling units.

ControlTo calculate device capacity, a PID sequence is used.In heating mode with just one set point and different sets of PID parameters, the first request is calculated using a standard PID. The second request starts when the first has reached 100%. The set point for controlling the second device is the same, while the set of PID parameters are different.According to PID behaviour of the second device, the percentage of activation of the second device at start up should be equal to the ‘’offset’’, however thanks to the incremental PID, only the last calculated delta can be considered, meaning no bumps, and the second device will start at minimum output and then be controlled according to the PID parameters and supply temperature.
