Welcome!

Whether you are a current and returning ASD family or enrolling for the very first time, a heartfelt welcome to the 2014-2015 school year!

This fall ASD welcomes over 300 new students to the American School of Dubai. For many of you Dubai represents your first overseas experience; for others another international posting or even your permanent home.

One of the most amazing distinctions of ASD is our vibrant and supportive community. A plethora of parent involvement and student engagement opportunities are available to support your child’s learning, enrich your life and allow our school to be the best it can be. There are many ways to get involved and whether this is your first or fifteenth year, we encourage you do so. Your involvement not only contributes to the success of your child(ren), but will enrich your life and contribute to the success of ASD.

The Advancement Office serves our school in a number of ways, including school wide internal and external communications, community relations, alumni programs and development/fundraising. We work to connect and inform families, alumni and friends to further strengthen and support the mission of the school. As one of only a few not-for- profit K-12 schools, our story is unique. Engage with ASD’s social media, read the weekly (emailed) ASD News, attend the many community-school events so generously organized by parent volunteers, read school publications, know your school and get involved.

Message from The SuperintendentDear ASD Parents and Students,

It seems only yesterday that as a community we said our farewells to one another as the 2013-2014 school year came to a successful conclusion. Now, it’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to extend you a warm welcome to the beginning of what we anticipate to be another phenomenal year of learning at ASD.

Over the last several years, our school community has come together around our Mission and Core Values. The mission of challenging and inspiring each student to achieve their dreams and to become a passionate learner prepared to adapt and contribute in a rapidly changing world is both aspirational and inspirational and continues to demand that we bring our very best work together as a community each and every day.

Compassion, excellence, integrity, respect and responsibility are not simply five words that can be found on the walls across the campus. These Core Values continue to guide our interaction in a manner that will again transcend the multitude of different nationalities represented among our student body, faculty and staff at ASD. The ASD Core Values must serve to guide our actions, decision-making and the sustained quality of interaction we will enjoy with one another throughout the 2014-2015 school year.

I look forward to welcoming new and returning school families beginning Sunday, August 24

when campus opens to host the New Parent and Student Orientation, greeting returning families at the Field House Registration Fair and welcoming you to the first day of learning on Monday, August 25.

Last May over 450 members of the ASD community gathered at Atlantis, The Palm for an evening of grand entertainment and fun(draising). The ASD Gala, A Night of Shining Stars, was an outstanding success thanks to the generous support and participation of parents, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of ASD. Thank you once again to our gala sponsors and committee whose efforts resulted in over AED 340,000 in proceeds to support ASD. Funds are being used to enhance, enrich and extend learning opportunities for students. This year’s impact includes developing the new MS/HS Video Lab and Recording Studio as well as adding extracurricular activities for students this fall.
