Readiris

Congratulations on acquiring Readiris!

With Readiris you can convert your image files and digital camera images into PDF and Text documents, share them via e-mail, transfer them to other apps for further text processing and store them in the Cloud with Google Drive, box, Dropbox and other Cloud applications.

How does it work?

When you import your images into Readiris, the app recognizes every text zone, graphic and table and locates them on the page. Then, you can select which zones you want to include in the new document you are about to create and export. You can either create a single page document or combine multiple images and export them as a single document. That's up to you.

Getting to know the Readiris interface

The empty Readiris interface consists of a menu bar with the following icons:

This is the Settings menu. Here you can select the document language and the analysis options.

This menu either deletes all pages or the selected page.

This is the default document name. Tap it to modify it.

This is the Print menu. Here you can select the print options.

This is the Export menu. Here you can select the output format and the destination.

Tap the help icon at any time to access the contextual help.

Tap this icon to import images into Readiris.

Image Analysis

Language

Readiris recognizes the text in your images and allows you to export it.

Tip: If you export documents without having selected the right language it will lead to bad recognition results.

Auto-analyze image

This option splits up your images in different zones and also autorotates the image if necessary.

Readiris uses 3 zone types: text, graphics and tables. Each zone has its own color: text zones are orange, graphics are blue and table zones are purple.

These zones can be modified manually. Tap in Single page view for more information.

Main zones only

This option detects and automatically removes border zones or small zones that do not contain any text, graphics or tables.

This feature is particularly interesting when you have badly scanned pages.

Image Import

Open added pages

This option displays any page you add in Single Page View, instead of displaying its thumbnail in Multipage View. This way, you can proceed directly to editing the page, instead of having to open it first.

Import images from an I.R.I.S. scanner

In Readiris you can also import images directly from I.R.I.S. Wi-Fi scanners. You can also import images from I.R.I.S. scanners without a Wi-Fi feature but this requires a few extra steps. How to do so is explained below.

IRIScan Anywhere Wifi and IRIScan Pro 3 Wifi

Activate the Wi-Fi function on your I.R.I.S. scanner. If necessary, see the documentation that came with the scanner.

Go to your iPad Settings > Wi-Fi and select the network corresponding to your scanner. It might take a few moments for the connection to be established.

When the connection is established, return to Readiris and tap . Your I.R.I.S. scanner is now listed as source.

Select it and then select the image you want to open.

Page 21: Readiris iPad 1 - irislink.com · Go to your iPad Settings > Wi-Fi and select the network corresponding to your scanner. It might take a few moments for the connection to be established

IRIScan Anywhere 2 and higher

Preliminary requirements:

A microSD card is required to store your scanned images. An iPad Camera Connection Kit is required to connect the microSD card to your

iPad.

To import images:

Insert a microSD card into the card slot of your IRIScan Anywhere.

Note: make sure the microSD card is the only external memory device. Unplug any USB flash devices from your scanner if necessary.

Scan your documents. The scanned images are stored on the microSD card. Remove the microSD card from the card slot and insert it in the Camera Connection

Kit. Plug the Camera Connection Kit in your iPad. Import your images to the Photos library.

From there you can import images into Readiris. See Step 2 in the section Welcome to Readiris.

Tip: if your iPad doesn't find any images on the microSD card, then the scanner's firmware needs to be updated. To learn how to update it, consult the corresponding section of the FAQ page: "Is it possible to have the scanned images saved to a DCIM folder?".

IRIScan Book 2 and higher*

Preliminary requirement:

An iPad Camera Connection Kit is required to connect the microSD card to your iPad.

Attention:

Do not try to connect the IRIScan Book to your iPad by means of a USB cable. This type of connection is not supported by iPad since the IRIScan Book automatically tries to charge its battery via usb connection.

Page 22: Readiris iPad 1 - irislink.com · Go to your iPad Settings > Wi-Fi and select the network corresponding to your scanner. It might take a few moments for the connection to be established

Do not try to transfer documents from IRIScan Book 2 Executive via Bluetooth. This function is not supported.

To import images:

Insert the microSD card delivered with your IRIScan Book into the card slot of your scanner.

Scan your documents. The scanned images are stored on the microSD card. Remove the microSD card from the card slot and insert it in the Camera Connection

Kit. Plug the Camera Connection Kit in your iPad. Import your images to your Photos library.

From there you can import images into Readiris. See Step 2 in the section Welcome to Readiris.

*Note: it is not possible to connect Readiris to the IRIScan Book Executive 3 via Wi-Fi.
