CREDIT UNION NEWS In 1956 a group of parishioners had a vision to

create a place where they could help their fellow St. Hel-

en parishioners with their financial needs. This vision is

very much alive and well today as the St. Helen Federal

Credit Union continues to serve its members in its 61st

year of operation. The Credit Union has listened to its

members’ concerns to provide the savings and lending

programs needed to best serve its parishioners. We have

been there to help parishioners realize their housing

dreams with savings accounts and second mortgages,

provide affordable car loans when a new vehicle is need-

ed, offer Christmas savings accounts to attain the picture

-perfect Christmas morning, teach our young students

the value of budgeting through Savings Day programs,

and sometimes just be that big shoulder on which to re-

lease all the tension of a financial burden. If you have

been a member of the St. Helen Federal Credit Union at

some point during our 61 years, we thank you for the

opportunity to work with you in obtaining your financial

goals. Because of your confidence and faith in the Cred-

it Union, you have been able to assist your fellow parish-

ioners with their financial needs.

#5: GROCERIES: How do you bring home your groceries? It’s estimated that 12 million barrels of oil are

used to manufacture the 30 million plastic bags Americans use every year. That leads to carbon dioxide build-

up in our atmosphere. But it doesn’t stop there. Plastic bags often end up in our landfills or in our oceans causing an eco-

system disruption. It’s estimated that 100,000 marine animals die each year from suffocating or ingesting bags. Use reusable

bags!
