Stories Behind the Story
Dedication:The Perfect Rainbow: It Is I!This book is dedicated to children everywhere. A rainbow is a beautiful thing. This book helps children discover the inner beauty they have to give and how theycan give it if they try.
Creating the Story
This little rhyme appeared in vivid color to the author, Joycebelle, after a short nap which she took one day during a summer rainstorm in North Carolina.
The verse just tumbled out on a note pad she had beside her bed. Later, as she was typing it, she had a hard time reading her writing because she wrote it so fast. “I fell in love with the little “rainbowette” who was so puzzled by what he was to grow up to be. Like many of us, it can take some time, thought, and wondering to determine our true purpose in life. Once it is discovered, then we can live as we are destined.” Joycebelle states. It’s all about getting your act together and being who you are meant to be.
The artist, Jessie Powers has a incredible talent of capturing the spirit of characters. She has created the art in this book as coloring pages. Joycebelle created the cover, the computer generated art, and page layout..

Questions -
1) Describe the most beautiful rainbow you have ever seen. You might want to turn it into a story.
2) Why is this book a fairy tale?
3) Have you ever made a rainbow? I have. Every day that the sun is shining onto my flower garden, I make a rainbow as I water my garden. The earth is dark and as the water droplet's from the garden hose fan out through the sunlight— there before me on my flower garden is a perfect rainbow! See if you can make one with a garden hose, a dark backdrop, and the sun shining. Move around until you make a perfect rainbow, too.
The Perfect Rainbow: It Is I!Answers –
1) You might want to turn Your Most Beautiful Rainbowinto a story and submit it to www.goodstorycontest.com.
2) A fairy tale is a factious story that uses things or animals as talking, thinking individuals for the characters of their story. They usually have a good lesson hidden in them for the reader to find and apply to their real life. See also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy_tale
3) To make a rainbow you need sun, a dark backdrop, a fine spray of water droplets and someone to see the rainbow. Each must be aligned properly. The sun has to be in back of the observer and relatively low in the horizon. The spray or mist has to be in front of the observer. The rainbow can be seen best when sunlight passes through the water droplets against a dark background. For more information go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow
You might want to keep a video record of the rainbows you make and the ones that occur naturally. People love rainbows. You could post it on YouTube.comand maybe other people would show their rainbows also. You can send it to [email protected]. We might have a rainbow contest sometime if there is enough interest. What fun!
