Machine Tool TechnologySkilled machinists are always in demand and will be as long as there isa machine to manufacture a product, to assist in agriculture, toconstruct homes and buildings, to save time and energy, to produceenergy and to provide recreation.

Machine tool technicians produce precision parts using machine toolssuch as lathes, drill presses and milling machines. They set up andoperate a wide variety of machine tools and have a thoroughunderstanding of the working properties of metals such as steel, castiron, aluminum and brass. Using their skill with machine tools andtheir knowledge of metals, machine tool technicians plan and carryout the operations needed to make machined products that meetprecise specifications.

RACC and Berks Career and Technology Center are partnering to offer both theoretical and hands-on training for machine tool technology that meets the needs of business and also fulfills therequirements for the Machine Tool Technology Apprenticeship Program.
