What happened in Chapter 10?
The people of Cornucopia watch as the King, the Lords and the Royal guard (including Major Beamish) leave for the Marshlands. Daisy Dovetail is not impressed and her father says there is no Ickabog.

This is a closed question. The interviewee can only give one word answers.
This is an open ended question. It makes the interviewee explain more and give more details.

Daisy Dovetail
Key Information• 7 years old• defended her friend Bert when he was
being bullied• her mum died after the King made her work
when she was poorly• then the King made her move house next to
the graveyard• she had a fight with Bert in the courtyard
after she called the King 'selfish, vain and cruel'

the King's food• Not as clever as Spittleworth• Hates children• Manipulates the King so he gets what
he wants• He is enormous from eating so much• Doesn't believe in the Ickabog

he wants• Cunning, clever and sly• Doesn't believe in the Ickabog

Shepherd from the Marshlands

wants the King to help

Working with a partner, act out your interview with the character. Remember to ask open ended questions to get the interviewee to explain more and give more details.
If you are working at home, you can either act out the interview with a sibling or use the videos we have watched during the lesson.

When you think about your questions, make sure your purpose is clear - what do you, as the interviewer, want to know about your interviewee?
What event/events are you going to ask about?
What do you ultimately want to know their thoughts on?
What do you want to gain by interviewing?
How are your questions going to lead you to the answers that you want?
You don't have to ask the questions in this order - this is just a suggestion if you're stuck for ideas!

Question: Answers:How has Daisy Dovetail effected the King?
When did you realise the King was acting differently?

Tell me what you think will happen on the quest.
Treacherous words. King feels he has to prove himself. Should have thrown her in the dungeon.Pathetic! He was late so we shouldn't have seen him at all. Spittleworth's joke was hilarious.When he arrived in a plain black suit, no gems or jewels. How will he impress the peasants?Livid! The food is terrible, I will have to pack some snacksNothing! the Ickabog doesn't exist. We will be back really soon.

When you think about the answers, remember use of language - how would that character answer the questions? What kind of tone would they use? What kind of
vocabulary would they use?
Add this on so that it's really clear in your head how the interviewee would speak!
