Reaching heights beyond boardroomsWith an intention to impart quality management education, nurture talent, and groom them to become future thought leaders and change masters, MDI Murshidabad was inaugurated on 24th August 2014 by Late Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the then Hon’ble President of India. The vision behind extending the MDI brand was simple; we did not intend to be a part of a herd rather we desired to raise lions of the corporate jungle.

FROM THE DIRECTOR’S DESKGreetings from MDI Murshidabad!

I have seen the Management Development Institute (MDI), Murshidabad grow from a seedling to become a sprawling tree that it is now. As a result, I am filled with immense pride when I express in complete cognizance of the fact that it wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication shown by our students, members of faculty, and members of staff of our beloved institution.

It is with elation that I say that we have been able to achieve excellence in various spheres in a short span of time, on the back of our concerted and relentless efforts. Of the many laurels, we have had the honour of receiving in the past year, two recognitions presently merit recounting. Not only were we recognized as the best emerging B-school in the country by NHRDN, but also had the privilege of being instituted as one of the members of the prestigious Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) for a period of five years (2019-2024). In pursuance of our commitment to excellence, we outperformed ourselves this year and have witnessed another year of stellar accomplishments. This year CRISIL has advanced our grading from A*(A star) to A** (A double star) at the National level along with consistent grade of A*** (A triple star) at the State level. In addition, we were also honoured with the prestigious Business World Top Education Brands Award-2020 in the category of ‘Excellence and Innovation in Management’, which instituted MDI Murshidabad in the coveted ‘Elite Club of Business World-Top Education Brands’. In light of these achievements, I am confident that we will be able to add more priceless gems to our coronet in the years to come.

Further, the Summer Placements of the PGDM Batch 2019- 2021 turned out to be a magnificent affair, having been completed in record time. I wish the Placement Committee and the students all the success in the world as they enter the Final Placements season.

The placement team at MDI-M started functioning from 2014 with the basic objective of facilitating placements for all PGDM final year students and summer internships for all first year students. Besides this, it is also engaged in encouraging students to conduct and manage different placement related events that strengthen their understanding and relationship with the corporates. These include live projects, research work for their dissertation, and industry visits. The team which includes representatives from the MDI-M student community is persistently working towards achieving these core objectives. ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

Management Development Institute (MDI) was set up as an autonomous body in 1973 in collaboration with KFW, West Germany, and with the active support of the Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI). With an intention to impart management education, nurture local talent, and groom them to become global leaders, Management development Institute (MDI), launched its Murshidabad campus in 2014. The foundation stone was laid on 31 October, 2010 at Jangipur, Murshidabad, West Bengal by the then Honourable Union Minister of Finance, Govt. of India, Late Shri Pranab Mukherjee.

MDI Murshidabad (MDIM) is a young business school which aims to create a positive impact on people, companies and society. In a short period of time through the in-house and open Management Development Programmes on various themes conducted by faculty, MDIM has been able to build its image of quality.

In 2014, MDIM launched its Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM). It was commemorated in the presence of the then Hon’ble President of India Late Shri Pranab Mukherjee, by an inspiring address by him to our first batch of PGDM students on the 24th of August, 2014. This was followed by a deliberation made by Late Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Defence & Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India. PGDM offered by MDIM is approved by AICTE.

MDI renews its commitment towards imparting quality management education. The Murshidabad campus is a part of MDI’s vision to nurture and promote talent and enterprise. MDIM would seek to align local aspirations with available state of-the-art facilities.

The campus of MDIM is located in the northern part of the State of West Bengal, India. MDIM prides itself in not only providing Management Education but also developing ethical corporate citizens for tomorrow’s India.

Spread across 10 acres, the campus is one of the most modern in the country, aimed at nurturing future professionals with a global outlook. Video Conferencing

MDIM has an internet based Video Conferencing Facility setup. This facility is used for placement interviews, virtual student seminars and classes of various subjects etc.

Bloomberg Finance Lab

The Finance Lab aims to support advanced applied research in financial markets and equip finance students and managers with the mathematical and conceptual theories and best practices in financial markets that go into the creation and management of innovative financial products.

Marketing Lab

This year Institute is planning to establish a Marketing simulation lab to boost the learning and practical strategic applications related to B2B and B2C markets.

Library (CHAITANYA)Library MDIM’s Library is automated with a collection of around 13000 books predominantly related to management and related disciplines. The Library holds a rich collection of printed as well as electronic resources, which include books, eBooks, journals, databases, audio-visual materials, e-journals, etc. The Library with its modern collection of knowledge resources and innovative information services pays an essential role for the academic community in their intellectual pursuits.

MDI M’s Library is state-of the-art with cutting age technological applications. With RFID Technology and KOHA software. The entire Library collection, including the online databases, is made available real time through the Institute’s network. Users can access the online catalogue and discover availability of library resources from their user interface. The Library offers a range of information services set to the highest professional standards.

MDIM has a state of art computing facility consisting of 251 PC nodes/laptop including two servers, connected Campus Infrastructure 10 on a high speed Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Optic/UTP based network in a distributed Windows and Linux environment

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Education DrivePrayas, the social responsibility cell of MDI Murshidabad organized an education drive in kulori for villagers with weekly education classes for students. Every human being needs to have side which leans towards social responsibility. Fortunately our CSR team got a wonderful opportunity to act as a stimulus to bring out this side of ours students. It was a social welfare activity in the form of education Awareness Campaign arranged by our mentor, Dr. Niharikan Gaan in collaboration with NGO Charsha which is primarily into rural primary school ambidexterity Mission located at Chandni Chaukhat, Jangipur, West Bengal. Our activity began with addressing and demonstrating the benefits of education to the parent and guardians of the children. We even made them aware of all the scholarship scheme and educational loan plans that can be availed, we were filled with pity and grief when we learnt how the children lived the day. All they could do in their leisure was to make bidis to add revenue to their family occupation which seems to be minuscule and something which the children should not be exposed to at such an early stage of their lives. In reality, the situation looks worse with education being considered secondary. They usually study in their leisure hours. We tried our best to instil some hope among parents to let their children study beyond matriculation as opposed to their current trend. Convincing them was challenging but the best part was achieved when we interacted with the students. We were awestruck to find those little gems, reciting beautiful poems. To our delight, the poems were not just in Bengali, but in Hindi and English as well. We gave each one of the chocolates and biscuits as a token of encouragement. We lifted up their spirits so that they start considering education to be the primary thing in their lives and to take their first step towards a bright future.

PRAYAS - CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CLUB

Murshidabad district being one of the least developed districts in west Bengal state is surrounded with innumerable social issue. Predominant social issues are poverty, illiteracy, high crude birth rate, lack of health and hygiene facilities. In such state of bleak social condition, it becomes inevitable for any organization to work towards upliftment of the society through certain philanthropic activities. The students at MDI Murshidabad have taken a crusade in eradicating such issue through the socially responsible (SR) committee named as ‘Prayas’. It is primarily student driven. It has taken small measure till date by collaborating with local NGOs in conducting various knowledge awareness campaigns in neighbouring villages of Raghunathganj.

The club has taken initiative to design personality development module for the outsourced workers of the campus like canteen staff, security guards, gardeners, and house-keeping staff. Various personality development sessions were organized in the campus which aimed at providing them with basic knowledge of English and soft skills. The committee has even organized blood donation camps,in which the students participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. It made posters depicting eco-friendly surroundings of the campus which will instill a sense of responsibility in the students about saving electricity and keeping the campus clean and green. The club also organized social awareness campaigns in nearby villages which were aimed at spreading awareness among villagers about new government scheme like BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO, PRADHAN MANTRI KAUSHAL VIKAS YOJNA and many other social schemes. The committee also addressed the issue of child labour in nearby villages as it is a major problem in this area. Through our campaigns, we have lifted up the spirits of workers of the campus and villagers and will continue to do so in future.

BLOOD DONATION

CAMP

The Social Responsibility committee, Prayas in partnership with Jangipur Super Specialty Hospital sponsored by HDFC bank was successful in organizing another biannual Blood donation camp at MDI, Murshidabad. The motto was clear, donate today and save someone tomorrow. 70 donors including students, faculty and staff members took part actively in this noble cause. From the obligatory cleanliness to post donation nutrition, Prayas took care of everything in quite an efficient manner. We would like to thank the hospital members for their constant care and support toward the students and everyone who came in to donate. A big thank to HDFC bank also for their sponsorship which made the event possible.

Dr. Debasis Chanda holds PhD (Engineering) from Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Jadavpur University, PGDBM from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) and BE (Electrical) from Jadavpur University. He brings in twenty plus years of cross-functional experience in the Information Technology industry and 5 plus years of experience in the Engineering Industry. He is also certified as an Enterprise Architect by The Open Group (TOGAF). Prior to joining MDIM, Dr Chanda played the role of Principal Architect – Consulting, specializing in Business Technology Consulting in Cognizant Technology Solutions at Associate Director Level.

His functional expertise also includes Strategy Consulting and Brand Building. He is a former Associate Professor at IIM Shillong. Dr Chanda’s Industry expertise includes Government, Banking, Insurance, Communications, Media & Entertainment, Manufacturing & Logistics, Retail, Publishing, Pharma & Life Sciences. He has Global Business exposure – Continental Europe, USA, APAC, Middle East and India.

Dr. Biranchi Narayan Swar is M.A. (Economics), MBA (Marketing) and Ph.D (Marketing of Services). He was ranked 3rd in order of merit in B.A (Economics) and M.A. (Economics) in the University Examination. Dr. Swar has been awarded the National Scholarship from Ministry of HRD, Government of India. He has more than 16 years of rich teaching, research and industry experience in reputed organizations. Dr. Swar started his career as a Territory Sales In-charge with Xerox Modi Corp. Before joining MDI-M, he was serving as an Associate Professor at Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

His areas of expertise in teaching are Marketing of Services, Sales and Distribution Management, Customer Relationship Management, Product and Brand Management, and Marketing Analytics & Intelligence etc.

His research interests include shoppers’ buying behaviour, online retailing, measuring service quality and branding. He has published more than 30 research papers in various Scopus and ABDC listed Journals. He has guided Ph.D Scholars and presented research papers in more than 50 scholarly and professional conferences organized within (Only in IIMs or at par) and outside India. He has got the best paper awards for his contribution to the research in various conferences. He is the reviewer and in the editorial board of the various peer reviewed Journals.

He has academically associated with the association like AIMS International (Association of Indian Management Scholars), and Academy of Marketing (U.S.A) etc. Dr. Swar conducted various MDP/EDPs in the area of marketing like (How to create a service excellence organization, advanced data analysis for effective marketing decisions, Managing products and brand building strategies etc.) for the corporates like Birla Tyres, Union Bank of India, Emami Papers Ltd, John Distilleries and others. Dr. Sunil Giri is B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) MBA & PhD in Supply Chain Management. He has handled various position like Director, School of Business,Member Academic Council, Chairman Board of Studies (SOB), Chairman MDP & Consulting (COM) at SMVD University. He is associated with various Universities in various capacities. He is having 18 years of rich experience in management teaching, training & consulting and research. His research interest is Sustainable Supply Chain, QR Logistics, Humanitarian Logistics, Supply Chain visibility, Lean manufacturing, Quality Management.

He offers Courses and sessions on the Topic like operations Management, Supply chain Management, Global Logistics Supplier Relationship management, Supply chain modeling, Benchmarking both for academic & training mode. Dr. Yogita Abichandani is the Associate Professor – HR & OB at Management Development Institute, Murshidabad, West-Bengal. Awarded as the distinguished alumni (Circle of 50) of her program at the University of Georgia for the year 2019, she has strived for research and teaching excellence since the beginning of her career. She was the former Area Chair and Associate Professor – HR & OB at Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and a Tenure Track Assistant Professor at University of North Carolina System- WCU, USA. Her research interests are Women Leadership, Critical HRD, and Feminist HRD. She graduated with a doctorate from the University of Georgia, USA in 2012. She has over 17 year of experience across multiple sectors and is currently serving as the Advisory Board Member for North Carolina State Employees Credit Union, Asheville, North Carolina. She has published in several national and international conferences and journals. She is the Co- Chair for the India Special Interest Group at the Academy of HRD, USA, a member of Society of HRM, USA and India. She consults with NGO’s in various capacities both in USA and India and provides developmental blueprints to organizations for strategic planning. She also volunteers with various education based NGO’s in India for teacher pedagogy development.


Dr. Pinku Paul is MBA, M.Com, PhD. in Business Administration. She is UGC NET qualified. She has over 14 years of teaching and research experience. Her research interest is in the area of behavioural finance, financial services, banking and insurance industry. She teaches subjects like Financial Management, Managerial Accounting and Control, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Project Appraisal, Financial Services, Banking Management and Insurance Management. She has authored several papers, which have been published, in national and international journals. She has also worked as Management Trainer in the World Bank Second India Development Market-Place (IDM) 2007 project on “Capacity Building of Rural Women on Production and Marketing of Cashew Apple Juice”. She has been awarded as Best Professor in Financial Management in 2015 during 23rd Business School Affaire & Dewang Mehta National Education Awards. She is a life Member of Indian Accounting Association.


Dr. Chetan G. K is presently working as Associate Professor – Finance at Management Development Institute, Murshidabad.

He pursued MBA degree in Finance from Karnatak University, Dharwad and holds Doctorate degree in Finance from Jain University, Bengaluru.

He served as Associate Professor of Finance at Kirloskar Institue of Advanced Management Studies (KIAMS), Harihar for six years. He also taught courses of Finance at KIAMS, Pune as part of faculty exchange programme. He worked as lecturer of Finance at Bapuji B-Schools, Davangere for about five years prior joining KIAMS. He also worked as Dealer for Equities and F&O at Kotak Securities Ltd. before joining academia.

He is passionate in teaching finance courses such as: Corporate Finance, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Corporate Valuation, Financial Modelling, Equity Research, and Financial Services.

Dr. Niharika Gaan holds PhD in Management from the Institute of Management, Nirma University of Science and Technology. She has been associated with corporate and academia in variety of role including faculty, practitioner, trainer, researcher, and consultant with a span of 20 years majorly in the area of human resource management and organizational behaviour. Her areas of expertise in teaching are Industrial relation and Labour Laws, Talent Management and Competency Mapping, Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour, International Human Resource Management. She has published in peer-reviewed journals of national and international repute like Vikalpa, IIMA; International Journal of Business and Management; New Zealand, Journal of Human Resource Management; Decision, IIMC; Vision-The Journal of Business Perspectives, MDI, Indian journal of Industrial Relations.

She was a member of the editorial board of Contemporary Management Research published by the Academy of Taiwan Information Systems Research and has remained a constant reviewer to American Academy of Management, Journal of Leadership Development, European Academy of Management, and Journal of Education and Studies. She handled independently a sponsored research project on Intimate Partner Violence funded by ICSSR, Ministry of HRD as a Principal Investigator. She is a certified trainer too on psychometric test (Carlton Advanced Management Institute, Canada).

Her area of expertise in the areas of training program covers wide range of topics like conflict management, art of delegation, motivation, change management, business communication, negotiation, boundary spanning leadership, team building and leadership. She has designed, developed and conducted training sessions for the senior executives of the companies such as GSI, LIC, SAIL-ISP, Techno Electric and Engineering Company Ltd., West Bengal Civil Service Probationers, NCL, ECL, NSPCL, IOCL, Power Grid Corporation of India, and NALCO on areas of change management, conflict management, team building and leadership. She has designed customized training program for Hindustan Petroleum Ltd. and NALCO as part of a consulting program independently. Dr. Paroma Mitra is B.Sc. (Economics), MBA (Systems and Operation) and Ph.D. (Management). She is having 15 years of experience in management teaching, training and research.

Her teaching interests are in the area of Managerial Economics, Macro Economics, Indian Economics and Basic Econometrics. Her research interest includes Applied Managerial Economics, Macro Economics, and Strategic Management.

Dr. Amrita Sengupta is an academician, who has proved to be a great teacher, a passionate researcher and an able administrator. She has completed her PhD from IIT Kharagpur and her Masters in Economics from Jadavpur University. She has more than eleven years of experience in teaching, research and administration in varied organizations like IIM Calcutta, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, iLEAD and Institute of Wetland Management and Ecological Design. She has worked extensively in both Development Economics and Resource and Environmental Economics. She has also worked on Industry Competitiveness under CII in a World Bank Project.

He did his Masters in Organic Chemistry from Department of Chemistry, South Gujarat University. He is a Management graduate in Finance from Department of Business & Industrial Management, VNSGU and holds Doctorate in Finance from Sardar Patel University in the area of Financial Derivatives. Dr. Mohanti started his career as a Management Trainee with Reliance Securities Ltd. He qualified UGC-NET in the area of Management in June 2010. Before joining MDI-M, he was serving as an Assistant Professor at Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM).

Dr. Yukti Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the area of marketing at MDI Murshidabad. She recently completed her Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in Marketing from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. She did her doctoral studies in ‘Marketing at subsistence marketplace’ from Department of Management Studies, Jamia Hamdard (Institute of Eminence). Her research interest lies at the nexus of Marketing, Developmental research and Information system. Specifically, her research interests include Subsistence Marketplace, Critical Marketing, Luxury Brand Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D). Shehas contributed several research articles in journals of international repute listed in ABDC, ABS, Scopus, and ESCI. Her recent works are forthcoming in Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services (ABDC- A), Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice (ABDC- B), and Health Marketing Quarterly (ABDC- B).

Marketing Club of MDI Murshidabad aims to equip the future leaders

and change masters of the institution with the requisite tools and

techniques for the competitive environment we dwell in.Through

marketing events and social media presence, MarKrone looks to

inform, entertain and inspire marketing enthusiasts to explore and

excel with their creative and critical thinking abilities through a

platform of expression and collaboration.

HR Udbhav The HR Club

HR club at MDIM, aims to provide a platform to students to learn

basic concepts and latest trends in the field of human resources

through practical approach with the help of various effective tools

such as – Role Play, HR Summit, Management Games, and Guest

Lectures by professionals. This HR club has been evolved out of

numerous ideas and hard work of students. The club focuses on the

development of all the basic HR skills not only for the people in the

field of HR but for all the stakeholders.

Finartha The Finance Club

The Finance Club promotes finance-related activities and careers

throughout the MDIM community. As one of the largest clubs

on campus, it caters to a wide variety of finance related interests,

particularly investment banking, sales and trading, private wealth

management, and corporate finance. The committee works with

the objectives of increasing interest for Finance among the MDIM

students and to help them in getting a better understanding of the

subject.

Centre for Entrepreneurship & Startup The Entrepreneurship Cell

Centre of Entrepreneurship and Start-ups aim at manifesting the

entrepreneurial spirit of the students and encourage them in the

pursuit to live their dreams. Industry experts and present-day

entrepreneurs share their experiences to provide practical insights.

Scheduled for participants where budding entrepreneurs, who have

developed a business plan, get an opportunity to be guided by on their

business idea.


Ecominds The Economics Club

Economics is an important aspect while predicting the future of a

region, tribe or an individual. It is an interesting part of every nation

that explains not just its development within but also its scope of

relations round the globe. The mission of the Ecominds club is to help

the students imbibe the importance of understanding the economy

for the betterment of a profit making organization. It also aims at

making the subject more student friendly rather than a brainstorming

calculative subject. To help them do so with fun and lots of excitement

we organize a pool of activities that allows the students to have a

better grip over the facts using their common dense, theory based

games, articles with basic facts, guest lectures and a lot more. Few

other activities include daily follow up of the Indian as well as global

economy.

Aakritians The Cultural Committee

An amalgamation of culture and talent, ‘Aakritians’ the Cultural Committee of MDI-M ensures that each and every individual of the college feels like he is a part of a family. The college constitutes of students from almost all cultures of India. Therefore, the student driven committee was formed with the purpose of becoming a linkage between all the students.

Other than this, Aakritians also play a prominent role during Campxotica (inter college festival of MDI-M) as it undertakes the responsibility of organizing cultural events during this period. It undertakes several initiatives to lighten the mood of the college and provide a platform for the students to showcase their talent. It ensures that college is represented in different events across several B Schools in India in the field of Arts. It aims at getting the students acquainted with all the cultures of India and instigate them to showcase their hidden talent.

Syndekon The PR Media Committee

Syndekon is a student-driven body instrumental in building,

strengthening and sustaining the brand of MDI Murshidabad among

current students, aspirants, alumni, recruiters, and other stakeholders

of the MDI fraternity across corporate landscapes. It is responsible

for facilitating the endeavor of Corporate and Academia connect by

coverage of the Conclaves, Guest Lectures, Workshops and other

such interactive events. The Institute’s Social Media handles like

as the Website (www.mdim.ac.in) is managed by Syndekon.

Annexes The Alumni Relations Committee

An alumnus is an asset to any educational institution in this cosmos. Be

it Stanford or Wharton, every famous B-school cherishes its big alumni

base and puts immaculate efforts in keeping it intact and engaged.

Annexes - The Alumni Relations Committee of MDIM came into

being in the year 2018 with the sole motive of maintaining a healthy

relationship with the pass- outs and furthering an association with

them for common good. Annexes maintains alumni data, organizes

alumni meetings, facilitates alumni guest sessions, and paves way

for an effective affiliation with the graduates thus creating a holistic

environment of growth for the stakeholders of the institution.


Opcellence The Operations Club

The Operation club of MDI Murshidabad is the platform for students

to harness their potential in the field of Operations Management.

The name is derived from the objective we desire to achieve i.e.

Operational excellence. Opcellence is a hub where innovative

ideas are garnered and nurtured to execution. Brainstorming, Case

discussions, Simulation games, publications, quizzes, etc. are some

of the activities conducted round the year to instil interest in the field

of operations research and operations management.

Prayas The Social Responsibility Club

Social Responsibility has become increasingly important to companies over the last several years. Whether it’s by empowering women, helping the environment, or trying to end poverty, more and more companies are incorporating social responsibility into their overall business strategy. Prayas, the SR committee MDI Murshidabad which is a student driven body, aims to make the managers of tomorrow socially responsive by organizing various events which are in tune with the problems of the society.

The Hostel and Mess CommitteeThe Hostel and Mess Committee (HMC) at MDI Murshidabad, is a

student-run body which is responsible for the smooth functioning of

the hostel and mess facilities. The roles and responsibilities of the

committee involves acting as liaisons between the administration and

the students. Owing to a wide range of people, the menu is prepared

such that the cuisine preference of all students are satisfied. The Hostel

and Mess Committee holds the responsibility of keeping a check on

the hostel infrastructure, housekeeping issues etc. Apart from this, the

HMC committee caters to the generic issues related to campus.

Aim

Plan of Action:

The club would integrate with D2C portals and various other channels for maintaining proper flow of information at the nick of time to ensure the availability and active participation in corporate case study competitions.

The club will focus on organizing workshops on Case Study strategies, Simulation games in near to real time scenarios. The plan of action and the time of the workshops are kept, keeping in consideration of various activities of the other clubs and committees.

Having a firm grip on the approach and proper guidelines to crack the respective case studies will equip the students with how the knowledge is to be used in the real world which would put the students in a better position for placements.


E-cell:Hatch pitch 2.0

Hatch pitch 2.0, a3 round event was organised by Centre

for Entrepreneurship and Startups, MDI Murshidabad. It

garnered a lot of attention from the students as they joined

and showcased their innovative startup ideas. The event

was conducted in two shifts, The first shift consisted of two

rounds where students pitched about their ideas whereas the

final round was held in the second shift where they presented

the feasibility of it. It portrayed that it is easy to just have a

thought but it’s hard to make a complete action plan. The

2019-21 batch students made MDIM proud as they created

a business model for their ideas and presented it infront of

our Chief Guest Mr Shubhradeep Nandi, Founder of PiChain

Innovations Pvt Ltd, Entrepreneur.

Markrone:

The Marketing Club of MDI Murshidabad set the stage for the fellow Mandevians by organising the event, to call out the creative kid within them. The rounds conducted were as follows-

Round 1- WASTE TO WONDER

Materials like newspapers, sketch pens, staplers ,etc were given and teams had to use their creative minds and make a useful product out of it. Then they had to come with a explanatory tagline and a name of their product. The product was later exchanged with the other teams present. This led to round.

Round 2-ADLA-BADLI

After exchanging the products, the new product (after exchange) had to be marketed well with a catchy phrase followed by the STP for the same.The event ended as a success with students giving rave reviews about it.

Finartha:BIZ - Team Finartha, The Finance Club of MDIM conducted their second overwhelming Intra B- School event BIZ - A Game for Gambler.A four day extravaganza began on 22nd of August 2019 with the MDIM PGDM Batch of 2018-20 and 2019-21. From buying, bidding, auctioning and finally selling the teams tried their fate with a die. An Awestruck win with highest Valuation took away the Gold and set their fate to be the Monopolist.

HR Udbhav:Donut Stress

The HR Club of MDIM successfully conducted their second overwhelming Intra B-School event Donut Stress. It was one of the most eagerly waited event of the year with students turning in huge numbers. The event concluded by bringing immense joy on the faces of the students.Thus the HR committee achieved the objective for which it conducted the event.

The PR MEdia Committe of MDIM, also known as Syndekon

successfully hosted the inaugural event “Media Moguls” a

Branding and Corporate Communication Event in association

with Decode Research & Mama Mia India in Campxotica

2019, the Annual fest of MDI Murshidabad wherein they

gave real-life issues faced by companies in Branding and

Public Relations & Online Marketing.The Chief Guests for

the event was Mr. Samrat Mukherjee, Founder & CEO, Crow’s

Nest and Mr. Srijan Pal Singh, CEO, Kalam Centre and Co-

author with Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam and Guest of honour was,

Professor, Dhaka School of Economics, University of Dhaka.

Aakritians: Freshers party

Aakritians, the famous Cultural committee of MDIM lived upto its name when it successfully organised the Freshers Party for the new batch of MDIM. The event helped in bringing joy on the faces of the students. It allowed the students to showcase their talent in front of the whole batch. The event ended with a DJ Night and the entire campus danced to the music. This way, it helped in increasing interaction among the students with the event becoming the foundation stone for developing fond relationship between the students of the batch of 2019-21.

Sports Committee: Burnout 4.0

The sports committee of MDI Murshidabad organized its first

MDI Premier League Auction Night for the upcoming Cricket

tournament for the PGDM students. The auction night was

a grand success with 73 players going under the hammer.

The highest bid for marquee player Shubham Vatsa was a

whopping 19.2 crore was sold to Team Heathens.All the team

managers did a good job picking their squads for the upcoming

season and all the teams looked pretty balanced. This event

organised by sportscom garnered special attention from the

students and acted as a stepping stone for Burnout 4.0

National Alumni Meet (NAM) is an annual event conducted by Annexes wherein the alumni come together to relive their past and indulge in nostalgia. The very first NAM was conducted on 18th November 2018 at MDI Gurgaon.Several fun-events were conducted along with the address from the dean, faculty members. The first NAM would stay an example for the following ones. With the gradual expansion of the institute (MDI Murshidabad), maintaining the Alumni relationship has become an important job and a big-time necessity. NAM proved to be a great tool for alumni engagement and for defining connections which shall prove to be high yielding in long run for a budding institution like MDI Murshidabad.

VICARANA 2019

Vicarana, the annual business symposium, a flagship event of MDI Murshidabad took place on 17th August 2019.

The event started with Saraswathi Vandana and lighting of the lamp, signifying a movement from darkness to light, which was followed by a welcome address by Dr. Debashish Chanda, the Dean of MDI Murshidabad. Students witnessed talk sessions by the esteemed guests Mr. Srinivasan Iyengar, Mr. Sanjeev Agarwal, Mr. Rahul Gupta, Mr. Vinit Bolinjkar, and Mr. Kumar Nachiketa who provided ample insights into the world of business and shared the pearls of wisdom. The day concluded with a workshop on Mergers and Acquisitions conducted by Mr. Rahul Gupta. MDI Murshidabad was privileged to have the esteemed guests on campus and thank them for taking out precious time from their busy schedules to come and share knowledge with the managers of tomorrow.


CAMPXOTICA 2019

One of the salient events of MDI Murshidabad is it‘s cultural fest, Campxotica which comes up as the most creative zone forstudents, inviting them out of the monotonous classes. It gives a platform to young brains to showcase their innovative ideas and compete with their peers. A part of the MDI family, students from premiere business schools, all over the nation are invited to join the series of exhilarating programs held during the campxotica days due to which students stumble upon new people and build their network .

Apart from individual performances, there are group oriented activities where students get go know about people from different cultural backgrounds and interests. Moreover the cultural diversity of a business school gets a suitable platform during such an event, to uphold their respective cultures and talents. Such healthy interactions between students not only enhance interpersonal and communication skills but also prepare the students for challenges and responsibilities in the real world. PLACEMENTS 2020

Pre-Placement Talks (PPT)PPTs provide a platform to facilitate interaction between students and companies, so that both can find the best match according to their aspirations and requirements. For effective communication, the latest technical equipment can be made available on campus on request. The campus also has video conferencing facility. The dates for the PPTs can be obtained from the placement Office. We value any company taking some time out to get to know our students better, and giving an opportunity to our students to know more about the company in turn.

PPOsA pre-placement offer or PPO, post the summer internship, is a much cherished job offer before final placements. An exposure of 8 weeks gives both the organization and the student an opportunity to gauge each other’s compatibility. The firms can communicate to the institute, their decision to offer the PPOs before the Placement Week commences. However, in the event that the company does not have any internal rules governing this process, the students’ decision will be communicated to the company either after the Placement Week is over or at its assigned time slot during the Placement Week.

Lateral And Fresher recruitmentThe institute does not have separate lateral and fresher recruitment process. Hence, both processes commence simultaneously and run during the placement week of the institute.
