AluminiumRecycled

23rd International

Conference

Aluminium recycling is moving ever more into the spotlight as companies around the world seek toincorporate more secondary feeds into their materials flow sheet and product lines. Scrap offersmany economic benefits over prime metal and is pivotal in reducing a company’s carbon footprint atwhatever stage in the value chain it stands. Aluminium recycling today is a global business witharound 30-35% of all supply coming from secondary raw materials.

Well established as the leading global gathering of aluminium recycling executives, the 23rd InternationalRecycled Aluminium Conference will home in on the latest trends and challenges facing this dynamic andgrowing industry.

Reasons for attending:Meet decision-makers from the secondary smelting and re-meltingbusiness around the globe

09:15 Welcome address

Iñigo Aranguren, Managing Director, Hydro Aluminium Iberia, Spain

09:45 Keynote address:Has secondary aluminium truly left behind the mantle of“second class”, and what more needs to be done to make itsecond-to-none?

Roland Scharf-Bergmann, SVP and Head of BU Recycling,Hydro Aluminium, Norway

10:15 Dissecting aluminium market drivers as we head towards 2016

• What is the macro-economic outlook across the regions?• What will this mean for aluminium demand – and manufacturing activity?• What can we expect in terms of LME primary prices and premiums?

Will we see a return to the historical premium for prime over alloy?• Currency moves and their impact on the commodities markets

ingot dynamics

• With P1020 and the like at attractive price levels, how is this affectingscrap availability?

• Which scrap grades are abundant and which remain in tighter supply?• What sort of discounts are we seeing for the purer grades? What of the

commercial grades such as cast, Twitch and Zorba?• Has the situation also eased for UBC or is this being sucked further and

further into closed loops?• How have Chinese buying patterns impacted on scrap supplies?• Are we seeing more automotive scrap coming back into the

marketplace? Does this mean closed loops are not working as expected?• What key trends are emerging in scrap quality?• The freight factor – how is this determining trade flows and volumes?• Are conversion margins easing or has end-use demand led to weaker

physical alloy values?• What variations in cast and wrought product demand are emerging

across the regions? Panellists include:

David Rosenblum, Vice President, OmniSource Corp, USAHolger Ellmann, Director, Argentum Metal Management Ltd, UK

12:00 The outlook for the vehicle demand in India: examining supplychain, manufacturing and recycling industry challenges

• What new investments are being made in the automotive OEM,component and diecasting sector?

• What will this mean in terms of aluminium demand? Will it be mainlycasting alloys that are needed?

• Can the recycling industry step up to meet this demand? Where willthe scrap come from?

• Is the Indian government starting to encourage sustainable, responsible recycling?

12:30 China, China, China – the view from inside

• The outlook for aluminium demand in China and implications for recycling

• Commercial and regulatory influences on Chinese scrap buying patterns• Scrap versus prime – which is the more attractive option today in China?• Developing a domestic recycling sector – where, what and how much?• Tackling rising costs through innovation, automation and technology –

where does China stand?

13:00 Networking lunch

Session III: Aluminium and theautomotive sector: challenge and opportunity

14:30 Aluminium and automotive – converging businesses to meetend-user needs

• What drives customer choices today: price, performance, appearance, ecology?

• How can aluminium meet these consumer aspirations? • How is the auto industry responding to shifting demand patterns and

customer requirements?• Are any clear diverging trends emerging in automotive aluminium

usage across the continents?• Increasing the recycled content of cars – what are the technical and

performance barriers?

14:55 Has investment in automotive sheet gone into overdrive?

• Who’s investing in auto sheet/heat treat lines – how much, when and where?

• Is Europe following the North American lead in introducing aluminiumauto sheet to mid-range vehicles?

• Are there technical issues relating to stamping, forging, joining, recycling that need to be addressed?

• Will the new generation rolling mills really deliver on time, to spec andat lower cost?

Werner Stelzer, Industry Consultant, Switzerland

15:20 The automotive sector as a generator and consumer of scrap

• How much growth can we expect in automotive castings? • Are new processes and technologies reducing the amount of scrap

generated or coming back into circulation?• What recycling strategies are being used by OEMs and component makers?• Make do and mend: are we seeing longer life cycles for vehicles and
