Orients students to the department, curriculum, resources, and provides an overview of the various aviation professions. Guest lecturers will include departmental instructors covering all aspects of the industry, as well as the advising staff. (F)1113 In tro duc tion to Avi a tion. The course will cover sig nifi cant events and peo ple through out avi a tion his tory from the first pow ered flight through pres ent day de vel op ments and a brief look into the fu ture. Pre req ui site: com pleted 36 or more college credit hours. This course will pro vide an over view of the ca reer plan ning pro cess for aviation stu dents. This course is in tended to help stu dents pre pare for in tern ship in ter views or en ter ing the avi ation in dus try as a pro fes sional. (F, Sp)3103 Flight Deck Environmental Issues. Prerequisite: departmental permission. Human-machine interface issues in today's modern flight deck are the focus of the course. Leading to that end, the student will explore the cognitive and psychomotor domains of learning, review studies of aircrew interface problems, learn coping mechanisms used by today's best aviation trainers to overcome design-induced problems in cockpit advanced technology.
