Summary
Women cell at RDIAS which not only works with an objective for development of womenempowerment but also helps us learn and explore different creative ideas by making usinvolve in various activities. For this Women cell conducted the session on the topicMental Health Awareness for MBA and BBA student on 27th August, 2019 in theLecture Theatre at 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Ms. Shuchi Dikshit shared her valuableinsights with the students on the subject of Mental Health Awareness.
Ms. Shuchi Dikshit shared her point of view that Awareness and health literacy are twosides of the same coin. Stigma and discrimination are negative consequences ofignorance and misinformation. Studies found mental health literacy among adolescentsto be very low. Many people feel fear when first recognizing a mental health issuewithin themselves, as they might not be able to figure out where it came from. Peoplewho previously felt nervous during public speaking but suddenly experienceoverwhelming panic understandably struggle to figure out what changed. Factors suchas significant life changes, politics, family, academic pressure, relationship issues, andmoney can all contribute to changes in mental health. Anxiety can be a normal part ofchildhood if experienced in phases, but people with continued symptoms often have atreatable anxiety disorder. Stress and anxiety hinder academic success more than anyother non-academic factors. In addition to hurting concentration, both can lead to racingthoughts, poor judgment, and impaired memory.
Attitudes which hinder recognition and appropriate help-seeking can be counter-actedby information which is already readily available in the public domain. Awarenesspositively impacts mental health outcomes. It is therefore a need of the hour for studentsto be informed about such issues and be proactive in adopting measures to overcomeand seek and accept help.

at different educational Institutes. I have been associated in the role of a teacher, mentor and
counsellor.
I have been fortunate enough to be associated with Institutes such as Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of
Management & Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, and Institute of management
Studies YMCA, NBA Group of Institutions, Jagannath Institute of Management Studies, delivering
lectures on Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Theory & Development, Human Resource
Management and its core aspects like Performance Management, Training & Development, and
Communication & Personality Development. I was also designated as the counsellor for BVCOE for
the time I had undertaken visiting faculty assignments with them. I have also had the opportunity to
be a campus to corporate trainer in Training & Placement Cell of BVCOE, Delhi. Each course
presented a wonderful opportunity to learn and to grow as a teacher.
At times I have found myself in the position of a guiding my students as a counsellor to handle the
challenges of life. As a trained counsellor/ therapist I am able to help them resolve pressing issues on
well-being of the students.
My vision is to instil my students with the passion for becoming collaborators in the exploration of
theory, research, and practice in their chosen fields.
I hold myself to the same standards that I hold my students. That is, I strive to become a skilled
thinker and learner, and I believe that this process is life-long.
