Thanks to the latest developments in Ultrafast Lasers, we

are seeing a wide range of new application areas. Stable

Ultrafast Laser Systems with an output of up to 100 watts

are already commercially available for industrial use.

However, the limits of today’s scanning systems frequently

keep companies from deploying the laser systems in a

resource-efficient way. That’s why the 3rd UKP-Workshop:

Ultrafast Laser Technology will focus on processes and

systems that will help companies capitalize on the full range

of laser performance, such as ultra-high-speed scanning

or customized beam-shaping.

Over 20 speakers from 8 different countries will present

the fundamentals of ultrafast laser technology as well as

provide an overview of new systems engineering and the

latest beam-source developments. Furthermore, experts

will discuss how we can push the boundaries of today’s

process engineering. In response to the increasing number

of international participants, the conference language

will be English. We hope to see you in Aachen at our

3rd UKP-Workshop: Ultrafast Laser Technology!

Best,

Prof. Reinhart Poprawe

Short Profile

With about 420 employees and more than 19,500 m² net

floor space, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology

ILT is one of the most important development and contract

research institutes in its specific field worldwide. Its activities

cover a wide range of areas such as the development of

new laser beam sources and components, precise laser-based

metrology, testing technology and industrial laser processes.

The latter includes laser cutting, caving, drilling, welding

and soldering as well as surface treatment, micro processing

and rapid manufacturing.

Furthermore, the Fraunhofer ILT is involved in laser plant

technology, process control, modelling and simulation as

well as in entire system technology. We offer feasibility stu-

dies, process qualification and laser integration in customer

specific manufacturing lines. The Fraunhofer ILT is part

of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, with 67 institutes, 23,000

employees and an annual research budget of 2 billion euros.
