October - 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time (World Mission Sunday) Dynamic Catholic, Alive! –Tested in Every Way How blessed we are as Catholics to have such an extraordinary example of love and service in the person of Jesus Christ! The readings for this Sunday remind us just how selfless and loving our God is. Jesus was afflicted in every way, yet without sinning. He suffered the death of a criminal and bore all of our offenses and guilt. During His time on earth, He reminded us as disciples that we too would be tested and tried throughout our earthly pilgrimage and that we too would have to take up our cross daily to follow Him. A good question to ask ourselves this week is “Where are we seeking to be the greatest in our own lives?” Are we seeking self-aggrandizement in our work, our personal life, or our family life? Or are we instead embracing the cross of self-denial and willingly suffering afflictions so that others might experience authentic love and service? Acts of selfless love and uniting our sufferings to the cross of Christ are excellent ways of evangelizing others and showing them the essence of the Christian faith. archstl.org

Appetite. Why couldn't Dracula's wife get to

Most Holy Trinity, I do not understand Your plans for me. I don't know where all of it will lead, but I want to surrender my life, myself, every part of me to You. I gladly yield control of my life to You. Take my life, O Lord, and let it be set apart, consecrated for You. “Your Future Begins With Us” News from St. Joachim School

Mission Statement The mission of St. Joachim Catholic School is to assist the parents and parish community in the shared responsibility of providing an excellent religious and academic education that is Alive in Christ for the children of Washington County. FROM THE DESK OF MRS. LITTON..... The weather has definitely changed and so the children are adjusting. Our first quarter is complete and I am finding much instruction and many activities that makes St. Joachim a good place to be. Students are being more attentive to schedules and their responsibilities as students. Teachers made conference times with each parent and parent-teacher conferences were a success. The athletic teams are doing their best and I would like to compliment the coaches and others that make the weekly athletic games occur for students. You do a great job. This week is very busy with teacher training, Region 6 Mass for students, Red Ribbon Week and a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Pray for us that all goes well. FYI: St. Joachim's Saint Parade is Tuesday, Oct 30 at 8:15 Mass Halloween parties are Wednesday, Oct 31 @ 12:00. Trunk or Treat will be at the KC Hall beginning at 5 pm. Nov. 1 All Saint's Day (NO SCHOOL) Nov. 2 Curriculum work for teachers (NO SCHOOL) Have a Blessed Week All!

Religious Education News Serve Him with Joy and Gladness RCIA and Adult Faith Formation, PSR Mission Statement: With the help of Jesus Christ, the Master teacher and the power of the Holy Spirit, the Mission of St. Joachim PSR is to assist and support the parents in faith formation, spiritual development, and the transformation of their children to become full, active, and participating Catholics and Missionary Disciples. (Revised 2016) RCIA News RCIA Formation and Catechesis are in session on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8. Come and See. PSR News. No Class on Halloween. Trunk or Treat Halloween Party at Knights of Columbus beginning at 5 p.m. Remember: All Saints Day, Nov. 1 is a holy day of obligation to be observed as Sunday. Masses are at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thank you to families who participated in the recent Butter Braid fundraiser. Also, thanks to students who are saving their pennies for Quiche, Guatemala Clean Water Project.

Father, here I am. I know you are always with me. I place my heart in the Heart of your Son Jesus, who gives Himself to us in the Eucharist each day. May your Holy Spirit strengthen me to live the Gospel in everything I do and say. For my part I give you this day – all my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings – all I am and possess. With Mary, mother of the Church, I pray for the mission of the Church, for all Apostles of Prayer, and for the intentions of the Pope this month. Amen

THIS WEEKS READINGS- Despite their commitment to follow Jesus, the disciples often mis-understand the nature of their mission. Today we hear two of them focus on glory in heaven instead of service to others. Let us pray for an increased understanding ourselves of our mission as disciples. As we listen to God’s word, let us look to Jesus as an example and “find grace for timely help” (Hebrews 4:16). QUESTION OF THE WEEK-- In what ways are relationships in my life similar to the love of God for humanity? Do some relationships fail to mirror that love God has for us? Can I look at others in my life as God does?

ATTENTION! Please have any items for the bulletin in by Wednesday at noon. Thank you!! Weekly Envelopes: It would be a great help to the money counters if when you’re putting a check in, you’d write your check number on the envelope. Thank you!!
