DIRECTOR NEAL GRIFFITH - YOUTH SERVICE DIRECTOR

Director Neal: In his report Director Neal advised the

Club of the inaugural annual youth forum which is to be

held at the Barbados Light and Power Training Centre on

November 12, 2016 from 9 am to 2 pm.

A0endance and par1cipa1on by the Club was both wel-

comed and encouraged.

CONGRATULATIONS TO DIRECTOR ANNIE

FROM ACTING PRESIDENT, VP PP BRENDA VP PP Brenda congratulated Director Annie on her ini1a-

1ve to reach out to other zones for assistance. Director

Annie sent her presenta1on with a request for assistance

for the an1-cyber bullying program to those zones.

Club of the Help Hai8 Today Radiothon on Saturday

Oct. 22. 8 am un1l … being a joint effort between The

Rotary Clubs of Barbados, Capital Media , Barbados To-

day and Limegrove Lifestyle Centre . Your assistance is

requested to man the phone lines at Limegrove and

pledging sta1ons at Emerald City and Carlton. Please

contact PP Elvin Sealy and PP Bobby Morris

DIRECTOR WINSTON WARREN —VOCATIONAL SERVICE

DIRECTOR

Director Winston reported to the Club on the upcoming

POW Awards dinner when we will be honouring persons

for achievement in their careers. This year we will be

honouring individuals in child care at various homes in

Barbados.

DIRECTOR ANNIE BERTRAND—COMMUNITY SERVICE

DIRECTOR

Director Annie updated the Club on the following:

• Re-integra1on program for the school leaving young

adults who are now transi1oning to the workplace;

• The cyber bullying workshop at the UN House which

involved the school counselors, and other trained

doctors and psychologists. The Counselors request-

ed addi1onal help by way of an an1 cyber bullying

template. Their chief complaint was that they were

not prepared to deal with the magnitude of the prob-

lems posed by bullying and cyber bullying, in par1cu-

lar. Director Annie recognised that the problem of

training is a legi1mate concern and is appealing to

the Club for further financial assistance.

• The feeding program for helping needy children is

soon to commence and all interested are to contact

Director Annie for further informa1on.

World Polio day—Oct 24

To be held for the first 1me at the headquarters of the U.S.

Centers for Disease Control and Preven1on in Atlanta, Geor-

gia, USA, Rotary's annual World Polio Day event on 24 Octo-

ber will bring together the biggest names in the global fight

to eradicate polio. The event will feature CDC Director

Thomas Frieden, Time magazine senior editor Jeffrey Kluger,

Na1onal Geographic writer Maryn McKenna, Rotary Interna-

1onal President John F. Germ, Vice President Jennifer E.

Jones, and surprise guests
