History - Managing Director• Derek moved from his government role 15 years ago to

develop a remote outstation for the Waanyi people• Derek established an earthmoving business at Century Mine

for the Waanyi community 13 years ago.• Derek started RBY 4 years ago to move his model for

enterprise development and employment to the CSG industry• Derek became the Chair of AEMEE (Aboriginal Enterprises in

Mining, Energy and Exploration) 3 years ago which is the peak body representing Indigenous enterprises that work in the mining, oil and gas sector.

History of RBY

• RBY was formed in 2011 when Derek Flucker and other key staff transitioned from NPC with the aim of implementing the ‘Indigenous Business Model’ across Australia

• RBY competed on the open market.• RBY won two major tenders with Origin and QGC. • RBY negotiated a Master Works Agreement with Santos.• In the past 4 years RBY grew from 5 people to 130 people during the

development works in Phase 1. • RBY currently has a steady work force which has been reduced in the

downturn.• RBY has an indigenous workforce of 35% with the QGC workforce being 80%.

Indigenous businesses. 360 Applications were received which formed 40% of the total applications received for all awards.
