HiSTORYTheRBS15MissileSystemfamilywasoriginallydesignedtocounterthemostadvancedthreatsoftheColdWarera.Itwasdevelopedusinganevolutionaryprocess,combiningproventechnologywiththelatestmodernbreakthroughstocreateastate-of-the-artsystemfordefenceforcesaroundtheworld.

Littoralcapabilitywasinhighdemandfromthestart,andthisisreflectedintheinnovativebasicdesign.ElectronicWarfarewasoneofthedimensioningthreatsagainstthemissile,sosubstantialeffortswereputintocounteringit.In-houseelectronicwarfaresimulatorswerealsousedtocontinuouslyhonetheRBS15’sECCMperformance.

Themissile’sdesignallowsforittobeupgradedinordertomeetthethreatsofthemoderndayandthefuture.Byenablingenhancedperformancewithinanexistingweaponsystem,themissile’slifecyclecostshavebeenreducedevenfurther.

Forover20years,SwedishandFinnishFACandCorvettes,aswellasanumberofcoastalbatteries,havedeployedtheRBS15initsvariousversions.UserexperienceshaveshownthattheRBS15isareliableanti-shipmissilesystemthatdeliversahighlevelofperformance.WiththeadditionoftheRBS15Mk3andRBS15FER,thismissilefamilyhasneverbeenstrongerormorecapable.

LONG RANGe, HiGH-iMpAcT WeApONOutclassingitscompetitorswitharangeofmorethan200km,theRBS15Mk3offersgreaterstandoffanddefencepenetrationcapabilities.

UnbeatabledefencepenetrationisachievedthroughtheuniquecombinationofanadvancedactiveradarseekerwithbuiltinElectronicCounterCountermeasures(ECCM),lowsea-skimming,randommanoeuvresandincreasedthrustintheterminalphase.Itslongrangecombinedwithalargenumberofhorizontalandverticalwaypointsmeanthattheoperatorcanmaketacticaluseofitsflexibletrajectoryaswellasusingthemissileforover-the-horizontargeting.

Themissile’slargeandlethal200kgblastandfragmentationwarheadistriggeredbydelayedimpactorproximityfusefunction,causingadevastatingimpactonanytarget,includinglargenavalvessels.

STATe-Of-THe-ART cApABiLiTieSTheRBS15Mk3allowsfortruefire-and-forgetoperabilityinallweatherconditions,thankstoitsadvancedpre-launchprogrammableactiveradarseeker.MissionplanningisperformedthroughtheMissileEngagementPlanningSystem(MEPS),whichprovidestheoperatorwithbuilt-indecisionsupportandadvancedsalvofiringmanagement.

TheRBS15Mk3isthemostmodernsurface-to-surfacemissilesystemavailableonthemarket.Along-rangesystem,itisexcellentasamainanti-surfacearmamentforanytypeofnavalvessel.Itisdesignedtooperateinadiverserangeofscenarios,fromanti-shipengagementinbluewatersandlittoralstolandattackmissions.

Incombinationwithhighsystemreadiness,themissilesystemfacilitatesrapidreactionresponsetoanythreat.Theflexibletrajectory,lowradarandIRsignature,advanceddefencepenetrationandtheabilitytoperformaseriesofevasivemanoeuvres–includingre-attackifnecessary–givesthemissileaveryhighhitprobability.

TheRBS15Mk3isproducedandmarketedbySaabDynamics,Sweden,andDiehlBGTDefence,Germany.ItisnowenteringservicewiththeGermanandPolishnavies,andhasbeencontractedfortheSwedishNavy.

fLexiBLe MiSSiON pLANNiNGThemissile’smodulardesignallowsforeasyintegrationandinstallationonavarietyofaircraft,fromfighterstoMaritimePatrolAircraft.Forfighters,themissionparametersarepre-programmedatthebaseinaMissileEngagementPlanningSystem,wheretheresultingmissionisthenfedintothefighter’stacticalsystem.Thepilotisalsogiventheabilitytoadjustthesettingsofthemissioninflight.

OnboardMaritimePatrolAircraft,thesystemincludesanadvancedgraphicuserinterfacewithdecisionsupport,enablingthecrewtofullyutilisethemissilecapabilitiesin-flightforquickresponsesituationsandtargetsofopportunity.

TheRBS15FER’sdesignallowsfora30yearservicelifewithonlyonemajoroverhaulrequired.Thisallowsthemissiletobeupgradedagainstpotentialfuturethreats.

ADvANceD TARGeTiNG AND NAviGATiONTheRBS15FERisafire-and-forget,anti-shipcruisetypemissile.Themissile’slongflightrange,over-the-horizontargetingandextremelyflexibletrajectoryallowpilotstoachieveagreaterstand-offthaneverbefore.Thepassivemidcourseguidance,combinedwithGPSandINSnavigation,allowthereducedsignaturemissiletohaveastealthyapproachtothetargetarea.

Itsactiveradartargetseeker,alongwithoutstandingElectronicCounter-Countermeasures(ECCM)features,advancedrandomterminalphasemanoeuvresandextremelylowsea-skimmingability,givesthemissileoutstandingdefencepenetrationcapabilities.

TheRBS15FERisthelatestgenerationair-to-surfacemodeloftheRBS15familyandcanbedeployedfrombothfighterandreconnaissanceaircraftagainstamultitudeoftargets.

TheRBS15FERimprovesupontheworld-leadingRBS15F,Saab’slong-range,airlaunchedanti-shipmissile.IthasseenextensiveservicewiththeSwedishAirForceandhasalsobeensoldtotheinternationalmarket.

Designedtooperateinallscenarios,theextendedrangeandflexibletrajectoryoftheRBS15FERmakesitsuitableforawidespectrumofthreatscenarios–includingland-basedtargets.

WithtwicetherangeoftheoriginalRBS15F,allweathercapability,ahigh-hitprobabilityandadevastating200kgwarhead,theRBS15FERoutperformsthecompetitionandenablesswiftandaccurateattacksfromover200kmaway.
