RB211 type 24C Gas Generator – FOR SALE
2. Introduction
BP is currently offering for sale a used Rolls Royce type RB211 type 24C Industrial Gas Engine. The
engine was used until June 2007 on BP’s Miller platform in the North Sea for electrical power
generation. The engine was removed for inspection following suspected Starter Crash re-
engagement. A Bulk Strip Report prepared in Aberdeen details a Recommended Workscope.
With the Miller Platform entering a decommissioning phase it was not considered necessary to
proceed with engine Overhaul & Repair. A number of Parts have been removed from the Engine and
are not included.
This document outlines the history of the engine, its current condition and the proposed timetable for
this sale.

out –
CTS 5017; Mod 1278 Embodied; RR SB No 55
3.3 Current condition: The engine was used until April 2007 when it was removed from
service with suspected Starter Crash Re-engagement. There is also evidence of

Wood Group (Repair & Overhauls) and the Bulk Strip Report details a Recommended
Workscope, and that document is available upon request. The engine requires overhaul
and repair and is incomplete. See Section 3.4.
