What a better way to end another fantastic year of performances and oppor- tunities at Enter CIC than with a performance entitled 'Christmas Spirit'. This year, Enter CIC’s Christmas performance was a showcase of the work that the young people have been

involved with throughout 2013. The performances took place at the Ferryhill Methodist Church and The Enter Centre. The group were delighted to welcome friends and families from the local community and an array of dignitar-

ies to the events. The performances featured a range of songs including the fantastic sacred Christmas carol ‘Gaudete’. The young people performed acapella and astounded the audience with their rendition of the carol. At the end of the Wednesday evening performance Mrs Sue Snowden, Lord-Lieu- tenant of County Durham, addressed the audience and spoke about the outstanding performance and strengths of the young people. This was seconded by Mrs Pauline Charlton who praised them for their dedication and hard work, not only on the stage but in their communities. A spokesperson commented, “In 2013 Enter CIC members have performed at some amazing venues, including Durham Cathedral, but it was wonderful to see them performing for their own community on home ground. A lovely end to the year. “We already have some fantastic and unique perfor- mance opportunities lined up for 2014 for the young people. If anyone would like get involved, please give the Enter office a call on 01740 655437.”

Ethan John Lawrence Campbell, 18, from Kensington Gardens in Ferryhill has been given a six month condi- tional discharge after an attempted break in. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday 20th July, when Campbell had left an ‘all-night’ drinking party to purchase more alcohol and found, on his return, he had been locked out. Campbell then attempted to break

back into the house on Stevenson Street, using a chisel he borrowed from a nearby workman to prise open the front door. Campbell pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage and stated that this was “a drunken mistake” at the Magistrates Court in Newton Aycliffe. He was also ordered to pay £20 compensation to the homeowner, with whom he is still friends, and £40 court costs.

Weather permitting, the Ferryhill Six will be holding a charity stall on Friday 20th December on Ferryhill Market. “Come along and support our fundraising for Breast Cancer Research,” said one
