DINI Momo-Dini Embroidery Art www.momodini.com

Momo & Dini are sisters who come from Beijing, China. Their artistry has been recognized in both China & International competitions, in which their paintings were praised with many awards. Not only are they breathtaking artists, but they chose to pass on their talents and knowledge to students as professors. Dini taught at Fine Arts Institute of Northeast Normal University and Momo taught at the Central Academy of Arts & Design in Beijing. The aim of Mom-Dini’s Embroidery Art is to produce the best designs with the highest standards and quality control. Their embroidery artistic mission encompasses the complex movement of merging the different cultures of the East and the West to give embroidery a new life and energy. Since Mono and Dini have exquisite computer literacy, they created their design patterns and digitize them themselves. Beautifully crafted embroidery designs configured from Momo-Dini do not only have intricate patterns, but they also radiate with musical and poetic inspiration, which sweet dreams are being dreamed. The fine lines, the satins, the different stitches of their designs are not merely elements showing compositional skills, but also reflect their ability to communicate their artistic truth.

Stitch & Bag Session BB101 8 hours

Spend some quality time with your embroidery machine and stitch up a

beautiful and useful totebag.

Tired of totebags that only hold things when they’re upright? This tote

has a drawstring top as well as a lot of style. Easy to make, finished

inside and out, this tote can do service as a purse or just hold your most

important items. You will stitch out an elegant and graceful design from

renowned digitizer, Bobbi Bullard. Then Bobbi will guide you into

putting together the Yamaguchi Tote Bag using her tips and techniques

Sessions with Bobbi

The R Words Session BB102 8 hours

"I never thought that that could look like that!" Back by popular demand! Everyone who took this class last year asked if Bobbi would give

it again. This is one class that’s fun to take over and over again. There’s always something

new for you to do!

Be frugal and green! Learn to use your embroidery machine, embellishment tools you

already own, and your artistic mind to rework a denim jacket. Bring a denim jacket from

the thrift store or that forgotten part of your closet to class and we’ll transform it into a

work of art that you’ll want to wear with everything. We’ll begin by embroidering designs

on separate pieces of fabric. Next we’ll insert the embroidered piece into the jackets.

You’ll learn a variety of embellishments and then choose which ones to add to your

personal work of art. In addition to creating your own master piece you’ll enjoy a parade

of samples, a compendium of ideas, and detailed instructions for some of the projects.

Learn to take the old, the plain, the buyer's remorse items, and re-work them to make them

spectacular. You can look at the picture for an idea, but everyone’s finished work will be

unique.

Full Day

Ray’s Sew Easy Embroidery Retreat 2011

Supply list:

• Bring a denim jacket that fits to the class as well as embroidery thread and basic sewing

supplies. Bobbi will supply everything else including embroidery designs for your use.

Consider visiting a thrift store for your jacket, then you won’t be shy about trying new

techniques on it.

(Yes, I gave this last year but the people in the class asked me to give it again)

Floral Elegance Hand Bag Session CL202 4 hours

Bring your favorite piece of fabric and leave with an awesome jacket! This is

square construction but the finished jacket is anything but square! You can

come early on Sunday and cut out your jacket before the class. Take it to all

the classes and embellish on it or add your embellishments in your room so

you can compete in the Thursday night festivities. Bring a little extra fabric

and use it to make your Floral Elegance Hand Bag so you will have one

amazing outfit! :o)

Make this gorgeous bag to complement your Lola jacket and you will be ready for the evening festivities!

We will cut out your bag and then begin the embroidered flap. You’ll be doing dimensional embroidery

and then we’ll assemble the bag. It’s a snap and you will love making this one and many more for gifts

because you get the pattern in the class! :o)

Stuffed Embroidery Session CL203 4 hours Cindy has developed a different kind of applique embroidery that gives an amazing dimensional

quality unlike any you’ve seen. You will use yarns, wool felts, fiber, roving…all the cool stuff

you’ve bought but haven’t gotten around to using. Since developing this technique, she has created

new collections of simple and quick designs so you can be Über-creative in just a moment of time.

These sew so quick you won’t believe it. Add these to your other collections and do embroideries

along with the new “Stuffed Embroidery” for unique creations. Join us and see what the “Stuffs”

about! :o)

Page 12: Rays 2011 Retreat

This is a totally different method for dyeing fabric. You will get mottling and strong color in this class

since we will be using procion dyes. So don’t think you’ve done it before…this is different and can be

used for dyeing other types of fabric…not just silk. If you want…you can even dye your jacket! :o)

Dyeing cloth is an age old passion. Even if you’ve tried it before or you are just the slightest bit

interested in how it’s done…you will love this “hands on” excursion into the world of dye. Our project

is a silk scarf…beautiful in its own right but we will enhance it with color. We’ll be using procion dyes

for an amazing vibrancy you just can’t get with other types of dye. Cindy will lead you through the

process of mixing the dye, making the solutions and helping you to dye one scarf. If you love it…then

you can get more scarves to dye in class. Everything will be mixed up…all you have to do is pick

your colors! This is a great way to experience the excitement and fulfillment dyeing fabric brings.

Cindy gives you the stepping stones to dyeing your own fabric for garments and quilts. Truly Exciting

have your choice of several kit combinations. Bring a denim,

linen or cotton shirt, or even a jacket that needs some

embellishing. Bring your favorite bits…not too many…just a

few to make it your own. Simple stitching and a little

Our troops make sacrifices that most of us can hardly imagine. They leave

behind their friends and family and put their lives on the line for us every day. That's why we work so hard to share a touch of home with them wherever they serve. Come join Jackie and make a donation gift for our troops. These masks will help keep the daylight out, as they work around the clock and share quarters with those still on duty. All the materials will be provided, so just bring your machine.
