While the country's largest auto major, Tata Motors didn't take much time in shifting its plant
from Singur in West Bengal to Gujarat after it faced a lot of criticism in the State but Tata
Group Chairman Ratan Tata recently said that the tycoon regrets Tata Motors could not do
the Nano car project which it wanted to do in West Bengal.

Ratan Tata-led Tata Motors has recently said that the company is planning to expand its operations in the CV
business and the company will launch a couple of models in the Indian market in the coming times.
Tata Motors Group's Managing Director and CEO, Carl Peter Forster recently said that the company will launch
a few more models in the Indian market by the year-end.
While the move comes in the wake of a rising demand for trucks and automobiles in the domestic market,
Forster also mentioned the fact that the upcoming models will be from the Jaguar brand in the domestic circuit.

Finally, Tata Group Chairman, Ratan Tata has opened his mouth over the issue
of his successor. At the Annual General Meeting of Tata Chemicals he was
quizzed on his successor.
The shareholders had asked that whether a "Parsi, Indian or a foreigner" is going
to replace him. In replay Mr. Ratan Tata had said that the Tata group is an Indian group. It doesn’t belong to
any single group like Parsi or anybody else. Mr. Tata has also said that his successor won’t be either pro or anti
Parsi.

Finally a time has been set in the long awaited announcement. Tata Group is expected to get the successor of
Ratan Tata by March next year. At least name of the person is going to be revealed by that time.
A panel has already been formed by the Tata Sons to decide upon the name just two days back. The group
currently has sales of $71 billion and has 98 companies under its fold.
The successor is going to be chosen much ahead of Ratan Tata's retirement which is to take place in 2012.
Such a time lag is important so that a smooth transition can be ensured.

In a major announcement in the country, the $71-billion Tata Group has recently
said it has already begun the process to select a successor for its chairman, Ratan
N Tata, who is due to retire by the end of 2012.
Tata Sons, which is the holding company of the Group has said that it has formed a
five-member selection committee, to scout within the group as well as outside and
overseas.
It is to be mentioned here that while the company refrain from the divulging the names of the people in the
committee but said one of the members will come from outside the country.

A selection committee has been set up by the board of Tata Sons in a bid to find
out the successor of current Chairman of the conglomerate, Ratan Tata.
The constitution of the committee is going to have five members including one
external member as well. Ratan Tata is going to retire in December 2012 and the
panel is said to have started its work already.

in Canadian market, hinting at mining as one of the fields.
Presently, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has businesses across Canada, having
offices in Montreal, Calgary and Mississauga in the Greater Toronto Area and

The group bought the Canada-based Teleglobe in the year 2005. Based in Montreal, it runs as a division of

During the course of his conversation with reporters at the Secretariat on Saturday, West
Bengal Chief Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborti confirmed that the State government
had initiated formal talks with the Tatas about getting back the Singur land, taken by the
Tata group for locating its Nano small car project.
The 997-acre land, which the government had acquired on behalf of the Tatas and leased out to Tata Motors
for setting up Nano factory, has been left unused by Tata. Since the land has not been put to use as per the
terms of the agreement, the government is asking the company to return it.

New Delhi, Dec 18 : A survey amongst 1,362 students in 40 business schools
across the country reveals that 74 percent of them fear that recession has affected
their placement opportunities.
The study, conducted by the Nielson group said that corporate honcho Ratan Tata is
the role model of most management students.
"In line with last year's survey, Ratan Tata remains the role model for management
students due to graduate in 2010," the survey said.

Kolkata, Sep. 1 : TATA Group chairman Ratan Tata on Tuesday told a press conference
here that the failed NANO plant at Singur had cost him about 500 crore rupees, and he
was willing to return the land if the State Government compensated Tata Motors.
"We do not want to sit on the land. We will return it if the State Government compensates
us for the investments made there,” Ratan Tata said.

TATAs have announced to take some concrete measures to curtail
rising operational costs at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in order to improve
margins and to turn it into a cost effective company.
However, the company has not announced any official time frame to
revive JLR.

London, July 19 : British Business secretary Lord Mandelson has warned Tata Motors, the owner of Jaguar
Land Rover (JLR), to accept a revised proposal to guarantee hundreds of millions of pounds in short-term
funding or risk seeing it taken off the table.
Following a fresh funding proposal that was made by the British Government earlier this month, Mandelson
warned Tata Motors recently.
The revised deal proposed by the Government is understood to have removed a contentious condition
contained in the original offer to which Tata objected that would have given the taxpayer board representation
at the JLR.

Mumbai, July 17 : Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata presented the first Tata
Nanos, the world's cheapest car, to three customers at a dealership in the
Prabhadevi area in central Mumbai on Friday.
The keys of the three cars were delivered to Ashok Vichare, Ashish
Balakrishnan and A. Chandrashekaran. One of them said that he would be driving his historic car to Mumbai''s
Siddhivinayaka Temple. Tata Motors said that 100,000 Nano cars would be delivered to customers at Rs. 100,

The cash-starved company Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is working on the idea to
raise up to £1 billion by September to satisfy its cash needs according to
reports published in British media.
The Tata group company is also exploring options for an overseas bond issue
to bridge loan repayments by June.
