What you missed/saw at Badfolk on 15th February 2019 at The Old Cheese Factory

The February BADfolk night main act was identical twin sisters Alanna & Alicia Egan. They entertained a large crowd with a mixture of songs. Their style covered country, jazz, blue and many others. a number of originals and covers. Three things I do remember about the twins was that one had a red dress (Alicia) and one had a black (Allana), one was older than the other but the other countered that she had a bigger bust. Some rivalry there I think. Later in the night they where joined on stage by their dad.

Spot Acts Clem started the spot acts with 3 songs, including an Elton John song and the standard “Stormy weather”. Next was David the Aussie song “The nips are getting bigger” and 2 comedy songs. Jane followed with the Peter, Paul & Mary song “When the day is done” an Eric Bogle song and the “Banana Boat Song”. The next on stage was In Harmony. Their set included the Roberta Flack song “The first time I ever saw your face” and “Storybook children”. Edward took to the stage playing some of his originals we know so well. The spot acts were concluded with a poem from Rohan about Flip-Flops.

BADfolk supplied the sound for 2 stages at the International Mother Language Day at Pakenham library. Thanks to all the BADfolk volunteers that helped set up the stages (Cyril, Phil & David) and to all the performers. Photos of some of the acts are shown below.

Cyril the mastermind behind the production.

The way the photograph has been taken it looks like Cyril has just had a bright idea!

Presidents Rave. Hi Folks, We are approaching a very busy time for the club out side of club nights. On March 16th we are at the Experience Casey event at Bunjil from 1 till 5pm and on the 30th March at the Casey Kids Carnival at Arkoonah Park from 11am till 4 pm. These are great marketing opportunities for us. If any one is available we would love to see some members there to talk to the public about the club and hand out flyers etc. We will play some acoustic music (musos are you are available?) and some of the members from our Young Musicians Club will play as well. We have received the resignation of Paula Taylor from our committee due to personal demands. Paula will still be at the club on club nights. We thank her for the input into decision making, actioning initiatives and cracking the whip. Thank you Paula. This means we have a vacancy. Do you want to be involved? Oh go on – give it a try – you might like it. For all members we have a gift for you if you are at the club this month! Edward Nass.President.

Welcome to the new members, we know you will enjoy great music with us

Our Mission: Berwick and District Folk Club exists to provide entertainment and to contribute to the community through the folk genre (predominately acoustic music), supporting amateur and professional artists/musicians and by providing opportunities for performance in a friendly supportive atmosphere which is inclusive of age, cultures and abilities and develop links with likeminded groups and to promote these arts through education and personal development. This means throughout the year we provide entertainment and opportunities for mainly Australian musicians, (local, amateur and professional), poets and spoken word from a range of genres in a friendly group. We do it well! We are a non-profit organisation and as such are dependent on your support to maintain the club. We keep costs low, provide a great venue (thanks to the Old Cheese Factory), offer an opportunity for anyone to perform and respect them for their performance.
