Support for the new types of S1000D data modules

Ability to create the following types of data modules:

o Learning data modules

o SCO (Shareable Content Object) data modules

o SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) Content Package data modules

Further operations on the new supported types of data modules:

o Preview published data modules in HTML format. The learning data modules can be also

previewed as PDF.

o Publish data modules as SCORM packages for further uploading to Learning management

systems. Only text content and 2D graphics are supported at the moment, support for 3D

graphics will be added in the future.

The new functionality enables the author to compose a learning course from separate data modules. The

course is generated in accordance with hierarchical structure of lessons. Published course is packed as a

zipped folder compliant with SCORM 2004.

Creation of learning data modules

The new five types of the learning data modules: plan, overview, content, summary, and

assessment, can be authored using the learning.xsd schema in the following specification

components: S1000D 4.1 (4.2) PRC and S1000D 4.1 (4.2) Text.

Creation of the SCO data modules

The S1000D 4.1 SCO specification component in RapidText enables authoring of the SCO data

modules. Each module describes the contents of one lesson of a training course. The SCO module

can contain references to fragments of any other S1000D 4.1 data module.
