1. Develops and implements QHSE managements systems, processes, and procedures that improves business operations in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001.

2. Conduct integrated QHSE audits of corporate offices and major Projects

3. Develop all the required documentation, EIA, operational checks and reports for the HSE Management System to be compliant with EPA and oil waste management standards, including corrective and preventive measures

Develop annual budgets for QHSE resource bedded-out in the corporate offices, assess the level of resource for current and future corporate activities and assist Project Managers in recruiting QHSE resource for their projects. 5. MONTH /YEAR: June, 2008 – October, 2010 ORGANISATION: Golden Star Resource. Bogoso/Prestea Mines POSITION: Occupational Health & Safety Officer – MINING OPERATIONS DUTIES: 1. Ensure all blasting activities are conducted in safe manner.

2. Perform internal mining / mine maintenance safety audit in accordance with and external audit standards {OHSAS 18001} and ensure continuous improvement

3. Provide guidance to managers and supervisors for the implementation of Mining/ mine maintenance safety management strategies.

4. Conduct weekly, monthly risk assessment on mining safety {pit} and mine

maintenance workshop in accordance with inspectorate division of minerals commission {Mining Regulation}.

5. Perform risk assessment on all mining pit and hazard identified to reduce risk as

low as reasonably practicable.

6. Conduct job hazards analysis on pit ramps, walls, haulage and haul road and submit corrective actions report to safety superintendent for review and implementation.

7. Involved and assist in the issuing of mining permits such as excavation permit, confined space permit, high voltage work permit and safe work permit for mining department.

8. Liaise with the mining dept on blast design and control to minimize adverse

environmental

9. Identify, measure and control and concentrations of flammable, respiratory dust, fumes and the frequencies of noise and vibrations.

10. Attend mining and mine maintenance tool box meeting, mining/mine maintenance safety meeting, weekly and monthly mining safety production meeting to discuss issues related to safety and addressing them.

11. Conduct and lead incident investigation of causes of accidents/incidents on mining

related incident with corrective and preventative actions and submit daily reports on them to Management for review.

12. Maintain and interpret mining/mine maintenance safety performance statistics for

presentation to the department.

13. Conduct Walk around inspection, emergency drills as well as Hazard Identification Risk Assessment and Controls {HIRAC}.

14. Design and present specific health and safety training programmers such as induction training, site specific induction, etc. for new employees and contractors.
