Winners for our Book Week costumes were Pre-School –Dakota and Eadie Deaves, who were dressed as trolls; Kindergarten/Year 1/Year 2 – Deakin Flack, dressed as Jill Buckaroo from the book Jill Buckaroo’s the Rider; Year 3/4 – Douglas Rebetzke dressed as The Beast from Beauty and the Beast; Year 5/6 – Seamus Maley dressed as Dark Stalker from the book Dark Stalker the Legends, Wings of Fire. Every one put in a big effort to dress as a character from a book they treasure. Well done everyone. A special mention needs to go to Cade Anderson, for being the winner of the Carrathool Shire Library Year 5/6 Margaret Merrylees Book Week writing competition. Congratulations Cade. This week is Geography learning week. The K/1/2 students will be exploring weather and seasons. They will investigate daily weather and seasons in our local area and the influence the weather has on people and their activities. We will also be investigating weather and seasons in other parts of the world and how they are different to ours. Through investigation of a geographical issue, students will also examine the weather and seasons of Kakadu as described by the Aboriginal people of the Larrakia/Gulumoerrgin language group and the meaning of the seasons for the people and the place. Mrs Munro will be on leave tomorrow until the end of Week 9. Mr Ben Sheaves will be teaching the 3-6 class for the majority of the time. Track Dack Day The SRC are hosting Tracky Dack Day on Friday 31 st August. All funds raised will go to TLC to support sick children and their families. Students are encouraged to wear track pants of their choice and bring along a gold coin donation. As this is a casual clothes day, please ensure your child wears appropriate foot wear to school. P&C meeting The meeting in Week 8 – Wednesday 12 th September will be at 7pm at the school. Special guests at this meeting will be Peter King (Executive Principal Murrumbidgee Regional High School) and David Lamb (Griffith Director Educational Leadership) to discuss the changes to the high schools in Griffith. They will be talking about what the new school Murrumbidgee Regional High School will look like, answering questions and explaining more about what will be different. P&C News Meeting in Week 8 – Wednesday 12th September will be at 7pm at the school.

Family Photography Fundraiser Offer extended – please return all envelopes with money to the school office by Monday 3rd September. More envelopes are available at the school office.

School Canteen News Canteen Roster Monday 3rd September – Julieanne & Heidi Monday 10th September – Julieanne & Renee Canteen duty starts at 10am.

CWA News Our next meeting will be held at the CWA rooms on Monday 10th September at 9.30am for a 10am start. New members are welcome and membership is free until 30th September if you wish to join.

CWA education grants are now open. The CWA Griffith War Memorial grant is available to students in the Murrumbidgee-Lachlan group area to assist with their secondary school education. You do not need to be a member to apply. Students are not eligible if they have received a grant in the last 3 years. Please collect an application form from Secretary Gaye Banfield if you wish to apply and hand in a sealed envelope to President Kaylene Hudson before Friday 14th September.

Church Together The next Church Together service at St Luke’s Anglican Church will be held on Sunday 16th September. Any enquires please phone Penny Black.

Golf Club Memberships are now due and payable to Ellen Walker, or by direct deposit. Please support your golf club, even if only with a social membership.

Competition: · This year, the committee will be running acompetition where individual golfers will playnine holes and complete their score on theirown individual cards.· Cost will be $10 per player per card.· The competition will commence on Saturday18th August and will run for six weeks, endingon Saturday 22 September 2018. Play willcommence each day at 1:30pm (names in by1pm), with the bar operating after 4pm for acouple of hours.· On two Saturdays, 25th August and 22ndSeptember, any and all social golfers arewelcome to also come and play ‘3 PersonAmbrose’ alongside the above competition. LFWAG Bird Tours The LFWAG (Lachlan Fold Wildlife Action Group) will be running Bird Tours on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September. The tours will depart from the Rankins Springs Hall at 6am both mornings. The cost is $80pp for Saturday, and $40pp for Sunday, reduced to $100pp if you book for both days. For Saturday the price includes morning and late afternoon bird tours, morning tea, lunch, afternoon snacks and a BBQ at the hall in the evening. For Sunday the price includes a morning bird tour with morning tea. Bookings must be made in advance, as places are limited. Please book by email: [email protected]
