I am a 26 single female and r currently reside .at an address known to Police.

I a m employed as a Food and Beverage Attendant at a Returned Serviceman's League in the Brisbane. I have been employed 'in this position since 1996.

I have twin daughter's who's names are and They were born on 1993.

In 1981 I commenced school at Somerset Hills State Prima1y SchooL I commenced swimming in grade one, 1 used to watch my sisters swim and I couldn't wait to get into the pooL Although I cannot specifically remember , I have been told that within t\vo weeks J was swimming unaided. The pool that I swam in was contained the school grounds.

Right'from the first time I began swimming I was coaclwd by

Robyn COBBE, I believe that Robyn was employed by the Education Department.

I remained being coached by Robyn until she left. t think I was in a grade 5 , and I was about 9 turning ten )'ears old, which was 1985. I then commenced being coached by Scott VOLKERS at Fosters which was across the road from the Hypermarket, Aspley. It no longer exists.

J recall that I swam at Foster's for only a short pedocl of tin1e. [_ would say about two months. I was being trained by Scot~ •..vith

and one other girl from my school. Her name is 1 would train in the afternoon's. I remember that it was a sc . My mother would drive my sister and I. tvly mother would wait for us and I think the training session would go for about half an hour to one hour-

In 1985, I can recall that Scott. then left Fosters and started his own swimming squad which was called "VOLKER's Squad. [twas .held at St Pauls Private School. Bald Hills. I remember wearing black with pink squares on the front one piece togs which was to identify us as being trained by Scott. My sister and .were still being trained by Scott also.

I remained at St Pauls under Scott VOLKER's squad for about twelve nionths. In this time 1 began to make friends. I became friends with Scott VOLKER's younger sister, Angela. Angela was around the same age as myself. I also met a girl named rEG I ~ rEG I was a bit older and trained in an older ~lso met a girl named Kylie ROGERS. I remember Kylio because she was pretty. Kylie was in the squad higher than me because they were a little older. I don't know exactly how many girls and boys were being trained by Scott but 1 would say that it would have been between twenty and thirty swimmer's. I can recall that there were ore girls being trained

by Scott rather than boys.

I would train frot?1 Monday through to friday. There was training on Saturdays but f never went There were two training times and depending on whkh group you were in these times were either in the mon1ing benveen 5.00am and 8.00am, and the after noon was between ~.00pn1 and 7.00pm. At this age I aJways trained in the afternoons.

I then recall that the swixn:ming Training moved from St Pauls to john Rigby,s Swim School and our dub \·vas called the Northern District Swimming · Club, Southpine Road, Everton Parle The 11VOLKERS 11 squad no longer existed and it merged with the Northern District Swimming Club to become one name. Scott still trained the same people as he had at St Pauls. I

0 believe that the year was 1986 because in 1987, I represented Brisbane North at Rockhampton and this was my first trip away as a representative swimmer. In had been a representative swimmer for Brisbane since 1985. I also remember that it was 1987 because I had a boyfriend in 1987 when I was in grade 7 who Was older and in grade 9. I became friends with Kylie ROGERS who knew from St Pauls. Kylie and I would talk with her before and after training. Kylie liked my boyfriends brother•s.

Scott VOLKERS continued to be training us, however 11e wasn't selected specificaHy as the Brisbane Coach. There were differ~nt people who did this and I do not remember their names. J was training specifically free stroke and back stroke.

I remember Scott coming to Rockhampton tQ watch us at the State Titles. I remember that I stayed with my mother and her friend ~ in a motel. I remember that Scott had accomm~n in the room next to ours, and that he was with another coach Dennis COTTREL. I · think Dennis trained swimmers at Miami on the Gold Coast. .

As a result of the State Titles r was selected in the Queensl-and Team for back stroke, and I continued training under Scott VOLKERS at John RIGBYS.

I can remember that in the sun1mer months of 1987, \vhen I was 12 years old, I was being trained by Scott VOLKERS and I was asked by Scott to got to his house which was at Bald Hills to baby sit his daughter Nikia who was about one year old. 1 nonimlly never trained in the mornings but on this occasion it was planned that I would train in the morning and I would then get a lift with Scott to his house and baby sit Nikia. I also remember that jAEG !who also trained with 1ne that morning a lso came with Scott and I in his car. I think his car was a blue 4wd.

We drove to his ·house in the morning after training between 8.00am and 9.00am. When we got to the house I don't recall seeing his wife Naomi. Although we were at Scott's house to babysit his daughter, Scott never left. At the time I didn't think

. much of it but now I do believe that it was strange. I remember that Scott was building a shade a pagola over the above ground pooL There was no shade cloth on it was just the wooden frame. I took Nii<ia swimming in the pool and f EG I came into the pool also. I remember that Scott was in the yard and he was generally doing odd jobs around the b ouse. 1 re1nember the house was a high set house with brick on the bottom and fibro on the top.

I remained in the pool with and Nil<ia for most of the morning. I remember that EG NH<ia and I got out of the pool and went inside. I remexnber EG going and having a sleep, in a room up the other end of the house from the dinning and lounge room areas.

[ remember sitting on the floor and watching TV. J ren1e1nber there was a three seater lounge was against the wall facing the te levision. 1 remember that as I sat and watched TV the front door was to the corner on my right and there was a sliding door to my right which opened up to the · front veranda.

I was watching TV, I don't remember what the program was. I was sitting on the lounge room floor leaning my back against the. three seater lounge. 1 was still wearing my togs and I had pulled down shoulder straps down tp below my arm pits. The reason I had done this is because all swimmers did this due to our togs being so tight which caused discomfort and it cut of circulation. The togs were tight and would not fall below the top of my breasts. I was also wearing aT-shirt as well.

I remember Scott walked into the lounge and sat behind me on the lo unge with his legs ei thet side of me. Scott was wearing clothes. I then had a conversation with Scott which was words to the effect of;

Scott said: "I'll give you massage ...

I felt uncomfortable and said: "No it's OK I don•t want one".

Scott didn't listen and began to massage my neck. Scott took off my T-shirt and continued to massage my arms and back. Scott would massag_e my neck and sometimes my arms ill preparation to a swim, never after wards. I felt really uncomfortable as he massage me. Scott stucl< his tongue into n1y right ear whilst he was massaging my neck. Scott would sticl< his tongue in my ear every now and then considering it a joke. I n~ver consic;tered it a joke, I considered it disgusting. Scott then started touching my stomach, in a caressing way with both his hands. J placed my hands in front of my vagina because I \.vas worried tha t h e was going to touch me there. Scott continued to caress my stomach and he slowly moved his hands up toW£\rds my breasts. I didn't move my hands away from my vagina and in fact 1 was frozen with fear. Scott then

massage both my breasts with both his hands. He vvas caressing my nipples. l could feel that my nipples becan1e hard. I wasn't enjoying what Scott was doing and I can't control my nipples it is just something that happens automatically. 1 felt really dirty and 1 was really disappojnted that Scott vvas ding this to me.

Scott caressed my breasts for about twenty to thirty seconds. He also stucl< his tongue into my right ear when he was caressing my breasts, Scott then he moved his hands down onto my stomach. All I can ren1ember that I was frozen with fear and I had my hands firmly covering my vagina. I couldn't believe what he was doing. I idolised Scot~. It was horrible. Scott stopped what he was doing an~ I put n1y T-shirt back on. I remen1ber thar f EG I wol<e up and came into the lounge room.

I remember that we then had to return to Rigby's as Scott was ·coaching the younger groups. I remember that I didn't tall< on the trip back to Rigbys because I was in shock. I continued to be coached by Scott. What upset 1ne about what had happened was that he was very good to my mother, I looked towards hin1 as a fatl1er figure. I tried to forget what happened, but I would avoid getting massaged by Scott as I continued swimming, and in fact I put it out of my memory because Scott was going to be the guide that was going to allow me to become the elite athlete that 1 had trained and was training so hard to become. I thought that if I had told anyone at the time, all the hard work that I had put into my swimming would have been a waste of time.

I can remember a time when I was at Rigbys training and I saw Scott VOLKERS stick his tongue into Kylie's ear. I thought to myself "So he does it to her as well." I never spoke to Kylie about it at that time, because I didn't want anyone to know. I then watched Scott \·Vhen he was around Kylie. I can remember

that he was very touchy feely, what I mean by that is he

always had his arm around her shoulder. I also saw this behaviour \Vith !AEG ~ l noticed Kylie's performance getting worse and I also noticed that Kylie was losing alot of weight ·

The follovving year in 1988 I .moved from Rigbys to the CoJ'pmercial Swimming Club at the Valley Pool. I continued to be trained by Scott. In 1989, I found myself arguing vvith Scott alot and J lost the desire to cont.inue swimming. In September of that year I went to New Zealand for a holiday and on my return I told Scott that I didn't want to swim anymore. I lost touch with all the girls that I became friends with when I

stopped swimming.

In 1995, my daughters were two years old my n1other was constantly nagging me to return to swimming and I had a conversation with n1y mother which was words to the effect of:

1 never told my mother what Scott had actually done to me. 1 did tell my Doctor who's name is Dr Margaret COTI'ER, she is at Buckland Road, Nundah. l told Dr COTIER that Scott VOLKERS had touched my breasts.

In 1997, I went with my daughters to the Brisbane . Entertainment Centre to see Aladdin on Ice. I saw Kylie ROGERS working and she came over to n1e and Wf. spoke to each other. During the conversation Kylie mention Scott VOLKERS.

I then said: " We should talk."

Kylie said: "Yes".

I then said: "Do he to you?"

Kylie said: "Yes. Did he too your

I said: "Yes".

Kylie and I exchanged phone numbers and we again spoke about what we should do about our experiences. We both agreed that no-one would believe us and I eventually I lost touch with Kylie.

I can recall an incident that occured at the Conunercial Swimming Club, Fortitude Valley where myself and

another swimmer were appraoched by Scott to stay at p ace overnight so we could go to a swim meet at Ipswich

the next day.~was adan1ant that she wasn,t going to stay at Scott1S an~d at my house ins tead. We never spoke about it. I also saw on one occasion go with Scott in his car to his place.
