DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE Dept. of Education:-
Introduction- With the changing era the meaning has changed on the part of
teachers as well on the part of student.The meaning of education is not confined to
class room teaching but is more towards skill development and preparing the
child for future life. Now when B.ed has become more elaborate aims to develop
some skills in the Pupil teacher.
The teacher should have enough knowledge of the present
conditions. He should be able to understand the needs of the students.He should
create a motivating environment in the class.He should facilitate such conditions
which enhances learning.
The aim of education would not be successfully achieved if the individuals do not
acquire proper skills for better timing in the future and for contributing do the
development of society and to this nation as well.
The aim can only be achieved if quality education is imparted which may lead an
individual to search truth, serve mankind and committed to establish a society and
nation where peace, truth love justice and freedom prevails.
Only quality education can produce person with deep faith in God and deep rooted
to their cultural heritage teachers are the active agents of social change they are
the one who can transfer right values in the society so it is needful for them to
acquire proper skills, teaching methods and optimistic opinion of life Kamala
Nehru College situated in the rural area like korba . Is fully dedicated to the aim of
education.
Among the number of departments in the Dept of education was established in the
year 2011 its aim is to provide the society with such skilled teachers who can
produce good citizens.
Aim & Importance –
Teachers are the one who can bring about social change. Requirement of good
teachers is continuously increasing in the society to meet the demands of the
society and schools of Korba. The dept holds the objective of providing good
trained teachers to the society who have a sound personality, a good psychological
base and a good knowledge of different teaching methods and techniques .The
Dept. of education fully focuses on the quality training of teachers innovatively
with proper attention focussing on their bright career in teaching profession.
Some objectives of the Institute on are :-
1. To help in giving good trained teachers who help in the development of
society and nation.
2. To help in Social change.
3. To help in spread of education and its awareness.
4. To help in increase of literacy in rural and urban areas.
5. To help them to develop their knowledge skills and abilities need to
progress.
6. To help them for developing over all intellectual, physical, mental and
spiritual value.
7. To develop competency to face future.
8. To help them to adapt in the increasingly diverse and ever changing would.

Sufficient class rooms are available in the dept. Since the number of seats available
is 100 and approximately students are present in the class the class is divided into
two sections the dept has enough classes for teaching and laboratories for
practicals.

About laboratories- The dept has its own well equipped labs having all the
practical apparatus which are required according to the syllabus.

Educational Technology Lab –
In today’s context knowledge of computer is a must.
Without the knowledge of computer a teacher would not be able to use computer
as a teaching aid in teaching. Teaching through power Point presentation is only
possible when one has full knowledge of computers.
Students are given opportunity to use computers. They are also made to meet the
situation where it can be used as a teaching aid.

Craft Lab- Dept of Education is having two crafts according to the syllabus.
1. Book Binding – It helps the pupil teacher in knowing the value of the craft.
It can be used as a source of living they come to know how to keep books
safe from water and pesticides.
The students are given opportunity to bind their personal books, damaged
books and also books from the library.
2. Drawing & Painting – For effective expression of feeling drawing &
painting is introduced as craft in the department. So that the pupil teacher
can learn the proper use of colors and their combination. The craft also help
them to make effective charts for practice teaching.
Craft lab is also a centre for expression of creativity where other
crafts for creative purpose are taught. The students learning by doing. The

Activities in Dept of Education –
As Bachelor of Education is of one year degree course it is full of activities.
The department of Education carries out different activities from time to time
focusing on the proper developments of skills. The department of education
believes that only class room teaching and bookish knowledge is not enough if the
pupil teacher is not taken to the field to have practical knowledge.
The following activities are carried on throughout the year.
1) Micro – Teaching – Teaching profession needs some skills knowledge of
some new and innovative teaching methods are needed. For this micro
teaching is held to give practice on 7 skills.

4. Explanation
5. Reinforcement
6. Writing Objective
2) Practice Teaching– It is the main activity which is carried out at school for
40 days. The pupil teacher is taught to make lesson plan before hand so that
he can teach accordingly.
3) Internship – With different activities carried out in the department.
Internship is one activity held in the school situated in the rural areas of
Korba.
The department of Education carries out internship at Saragbundia higher
Sec. School, Saragbundia with the teaching held in the school. A survey is
carried out in the village to bring awareness for education. Its aim is to bring
adjustment of the pupil teacher with the rural environment it is carried out
for 10 days. The student teacher is taught to make a micro lesson plan
before & hand according to which teaching is carried out.
Educational tour – It is known to us that learning takes place in many
ways through educational tour. Students get many types of information
which is not available in the books. Pupil teachers learn so many qualities of
team spirit, cooperation, helping others, adjustment and unity they learn by
seeing and observing. Tours are often made to historical places.

Seminars - Seminars are held energy year seminars on active learning
methods are organized they provide a previous information about afferent
learning methods. They are very simple and can make teaching and
interactive process active, interesting and interactive in the past year the

Seminars on English Language learning -no one deny the importance of
English. English is a window to the outer would for communication,
knowledge, research, inventions and discoveries.
If the importance of English is unseen we would definitely close they gates
of knowledge to us so to make students feet the importance of English and
its use in day to day life seminar on English was conducted in the previous
years by the Dept Expert of English shri Brajesh Tiwari Asst. Prof. Kamala
Nehru College is always invited to give the knowledge of grammar, sentence
formation and spoken form.
Weekly/Unit/Model Exams – A for formative and summative assessment of
students every week last so taken so that students can keep then selves
update with the theory. Every six months model Exam is held to check the
study level of the students.
Doubt Clearing Classes –
One important part of the training is that students are given enough time to
clear their doubts regarding diff. subjects of B.Ed.
The teachers of B.Ed give enough time to the students to clear their doubts.
Classes are based on the demand of the students.
Projects - Different projects are given on the subjects are asked to make
projects by writing information taken out from books and internet.

It helps the pupil teacher to gain more knowledge and have command upon
the subject.
Group Discussion – In the year of B.Ed. in 2013 Group discussion was held
at District level in the college and at AJKV Govt. Higher Sec. School Korba
Where the students of B.Ed. participated. No one was a winner but their

Syllabus – Dept. of Education pays attention that the syllabus in completed in time
through regular classes. The aim is achievement but due to many other
activities it seems impossible to make it easy the whole syllabus for every
sub is divided according to the months.
Daily Dairy - For efficient and organized teaching it is important for a teachers to
plan out his teaching daily. For this purpose daily dairy is maintained by the
teachers of B.Ed.which is prepared on weekly basis.
Contribution of B.Ed. students in different activities of the college - Apart

The most colorful activity held on Saturday is Co-Curricular activity. They are like
most colorful days because after a week of studying and working hard.
CoCurricular activity comes as refreshment.
The incharge teacher motivates the students to participate so that
hesitation can be removed and self confidence to be improved.

generation.
8) To help them realize the highest aim of education “self realization which
would help to create such a society where men and women dare to speak
truth.
Library for the Education Dept. -
Library keeps an imp place in any institution. It is well known that library is the
key to the vast knowledge. Library in Kamala Nehru College keeps the same
importance and keeps its channels and gates open with the purpose and aim to
provide books needful to the students.
Its aim is to enhance the thirst of knowledge in the students and
encouraging them for reading. The Library provides enough
seating arrangements for the students to sit and read. It has enough books
on the subjects taught in the course of B.Ed.
The library is well equipped with computers, Internet and photocopy machine.
NAAC Evaluation:-
On 8,9,10th December 2014 NAAC Team visited the Department of Education.
