NEWSLETTER 022 October 2012
INTRODUCTION
A brief update about what’s been going on at Lindholme Hall since our last newsletter, read about it below.
Phakchok Rinpoche Visit – Exciting changes to advertised programme Peat Appeal update – Marvellous News Lama Oser
2012 Season at Gomde
An autumn chill covers the orange, yellow landscape of the Lindholme Island. As the trees lose their leaves the shimmering water of the National Nature Reserve is visible on the horizon. Thanks to a few enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers fire wood has been gathered, cut, chopped and stored and we are ready for winter…….
The autumn harvest of news is good…very good.

Phakchok Rinpoche Visit Visit of Phakchok Rinpoche 14-18th November - Exciting change to advertised programme! This year Rinpoche will begin the Gradual Mahamudra Programme a progressive step by step teaching. OPEN TO ALL The precious Buddha taught many different paths and gave many different teachings. One of these was Mahamudra, the Great Seal. Mahamudra is the essence and peak of all dharma teachings, and one of the supreme paths of practice.
Rinpoche will base his teachings on a precious text, the Amrita of the Essential Accomplishment, which condenses all of the Buddha’s teachings into a single gradual path that guides the student step by step. It is short, precise, and easy to practice. It begins with the four mind-changings, teaches the four foundations or preliminaries, and goes on to give guidance on shamata meditation, vipashyana meditation, and finally Mahamudra itself—essential emptiness dharmadhatu meditation.
All five levels of meditation practice are complete within this one text. Moreover, they are taught extremely clearly, one by one, with a total of forty-three different stages of practice that are each numbered in a progressive order. The text not only teaches these different meditation techniques, but is also adorned with priceless pith instructions and teaches different methods for overcoming various obstacles that can occur in one’s meditation practice. It is a teaching that is beneficial for beginners and also for more advanced practitioners. The text will be taught in parts over a period of years. In this first year, Rinpoche plans to cover the four mind-changings, the four foundations, and the different levels of shamata practice. There is special chant text for the four mind-changings and four preliminaries for those who wish to practice these specifically but there is no commitment required for any particular practice.
This is a wonderful opportunity. Please see our website for more information and to register.

The Peat Appeal
The Peat Appeal has reached its target!
The Peat Appeal - Safeguarding the
Peat land. A tribute to Pete Skidmore
Thanks to the unfailing, though tested,
determination of a few stalwarts, headed
by the heroine of our cause, Heather
Skidmore, we have great pleasure in
announcing that the Peat Appeal has
now reached its target!!!!!!
Through the generosity of many and the
passion of a few, not only have we raised
enough money for the purchase but we
also have sufficient funds to cover the
legal expenses too. £58,800 in total!
Many, many thanks to ALL.
Now comes the task of taking care of this rare and precious habitat. More news of the team’s progress in our next
newsletter.
Lama Oser
With the support and encouragement of both
Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and Chokling
Rinpoche, Lama Oser has been based at
Gomde Lindholme Hall since late June.
Lama Oser has been a patient and authentic
guide for the resident community and our
visitors. He has enabled us to host our
Rinpoche’s seminars with confidence and
some skill. Leading retreats and meditation
groups with humour and tenacity Lama Oser
has gently guided our practice and
understanding.
Lama Oser leaves Gomde Lindholme Hall at
the end of October. He has been an amazing
support. We will miss him a lot. We have made
many requests to Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche that he returns next year………

2012 Season at Gomde
Our summer season has been so busy we have
extended it until November! So much has
been achieved and happened here this year.
In between seminars and retreats we have
continued to manage the Hall and Land at
Gomde.
We have made stores of chutney and jam,
worked our little vegetable plot, harvested fire
wood, cleaned out the workshops and wood
stores and maintained our lawns and garden
areas. The pond has been upgraded for the
gold fish.
We have extensively ‘bashed bracken’ all year, the trees are trimmed and we have created a new dining
facility for our seminars and maintained and updated the website.
This is only possible due Rinpoche’s blessings and the wonderful support and care we have received over
the year from our friends and supporters everywhere!
We would like to THANK YOU ALL for helping
to make Gomde, Lindholme Hall a place of refuge
for all beings.
Sarva mangalam! May all be auspicious!
Team Gomde
October 2012.
