During the development of the RONAL Turbo wheel it never crossed anybody’s mind that it would become a cult classic one day. The wheel was actually designed in a very uncon-ventional way for motor sports: For once the go-ahead did not come from management or the marketing department. It was more a case of a “secret project” designed in very limited free time. We owe our cult classic wheel to the initiative of Harald Ertl, the famous racing driver who won the DRM championship in 1978 driving a BMW 320 Turbo.

The German-Austrian driver worked his charm on RONAL’s then head of development until he came up with the three-piece RONAL Turbo wheel. This pioneering spirit garnered him enormous publicity at the time.

With the R50 AERO wheel and the new, com-pletely polished surfaces, the RONAL GROUP continues to consistently refine these wheels into a contemporary version of the cult classic for the 21st century.
