Dear Parent

Greetings!

“When I discover who I am, I’ll be free.” - ― Ralph Ellison,

Summer Vacation is the time to relax, to enjoy, to be with the world and to be with ‘our own

self’.

During the vacation share your experiences with your child, motivate your child to be aware

about his/her surroundings and most importantly ask him/her to look deep into

himself/herself and explore. Let the child develop the habit of seeking his/her own approval

before doing any task and judge for himself/ herself what is right or wrong.

The more he/she would set his/ her own parameters of judgement, the more just & forgiving

he/she would become.

Daily present an interesting challenge before your child and ask him/ her to provide a novel

solution to it. Spend time with your child, motivate him/her, guide him/her and see him/her

blossom with your love and support. Help your child in setting his/her aim, in learning a new

skill and caring for elders in the family as well as in the society and be grateful to God for all

that he/ she has.

Enjoy your child’s Summer Vacation and see a child grow into a righteous citizen!

Concept Based I. Given below is a story line. Using the cues, create your own story in 100 to 120 words.

A town named ‘Boring’- people never smiled – children only busy in studies and scoring marks – the

Page 6: RAMAGYA SCHOOL, NOIDA VACATION ENRICHMENT …ramagyaschool.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/VEP... · Make an investigatory project on Different Modes of Nutrition in Plant World

town had a visitor (an elderly person) – that visitor tickled away everybody’s problem and brought

back the lost smile. Find the moral also.

II. You are SrikantVerma, a student of class VII-C of Blooming Dale Public School, Pune. You lost your

English Textbook in the school premises. Giving details of the book, draft a notice (in about 50 words)

to be put up on the school notice-board. Announce a suitable reward for the finder. Put the notice in

a box.

III. Read the passage and fill in the blanks with the most appropriate article: I have two brothers. Greg, who is still in ___college in New York, and ____ other, Mike, has already

graduated. Mike is ____ serious kind of man. After his graduation he is working for ____ IT firm. Greg

being ____ youngest is a pampered child. I still remember ____ last time I saw Greg in California. He

was wearing ____ red sweater. ____sweater was ____ gift from me on his birthday. He threw ____

grand party for his friends and returned at 2a.m. I advised him not to attend late night parties. He

agreed that he would never repeat it again

APPLICATION IV.Read the following passage and answer the questions below. I am very fond of atlases. As a child I used to find it difficult to lay my hands on an atlas. So when we

started the Foundation at Infosys, I decided to distribute atlases free of cost to schools so that

children could see the country and the world and the vastness of the planet they lived in. One day as

I was coming back from my work at dusk I saw some cattle coming back after grazing. I smelled the

wonderful aroma of fresh groundnuts in the air. A man was selling fresh groundnuts in front of the

local school. It was quite irresistible. I decided to buy a kilo of groundnuts from him. The man,

obviously a farmer was selling his product directly to customers passing that way. He weighed a kilo

and gave it to me loose. Take this and put it in your bag, ‟ I was not carrying one so I asked him if he

could get one from somewhere. He thought for a while and then turned to his assistant and said,

“Run into the school, the classrooms are still open. There will be a big red book there, with thick

pages. Tear out one page and get it. Before I could stop him the boy had run into the school. Soon he

came back holding a colourful leaf and I was handed my groundnuts in it. I looked closely at the leaf

and realised that it was from one of the atlases which I had gifted to the school some months back. I

was shocked. “Why did you tear the page from this book?” I asked. The man said, “Some lady gives

these books free to the school. The paper is nice and thick, so we use it sometimes for wrapping

things.” I was shocked. Sadly I looked at the leaf which bore the seal of our foundation too. Since

then I decided to change my policy with regards to extending monetary help to the needy. I decided

to give only part help henceforth.

(a) Why did the narrator distribute atlases in schools?

Page 7: RAMAGYA SCHOOL, NOIDA VACATION ENRICHMENT …ramagyaschool.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/VEP... · Make an investigatory project on Different Modes of Nutrition in Plant World

(c) What was the aroma that attracted the author on her way back from work?

(d) Why did the groundnut seller ask his assistant to run to the school?

V. i )What would have happened If the Poet had not used his bravery and thinking to save the

windmill and his house?

ii). What if the Mason would have revealed the secret of money in the vault to everyone in the story

‘Adventure of a Mason’?
