Michelin has won Rally Australia 17 times,
including 9 times with Finnish drivers
Volkswagen and Michelin have won the last four Rally Australias
Since 2011, Michelin runners have won every Rally Australia stage (108)
Jacques Morelli, Manager of Michelin Motorsport’s WRC
programme
“This fantastic season is about to come to a close. However, before they can tuck into the gala dinner in Sydney, the teams and crews will need to contend with Rally Australia’s challenging stages. They are especially hard on tyres because once the loose top coating has been swept aside, which can hard enough for the first drivers on the road, a highly
abrasive base becomes exposed. The high temperatures and the albeit short portions of short asphalt also contribute to high wear-rates, and Nambucca [48.89km] is the third-longest stage of the 2017 championship. All the title fights have now been settled, so everyone will be looking to conclude the year on a high note.”
RALLY AUSTRALIARally Australia was a WRC round for the first time
in 1989
The event was originally based in Perth, Western
Australia
Rally Australia has been based in New South Wales
since 2009
Rally Australia did not count towards the WRC from
2006 to 2009
Rally Australia ‘invented’ so-called WRC’s super-
specials with Perth’s Langley Park spectator stage
RALLY AUSTRALIA TRIVIA
In addition to hosting the service park, Coffs
Harbour’s soccer stadium is famous for having
been the venue where Australia beat Samoa 31-0,
a record for an international match
Rally Australia is the 2017 WRC’s second southern-
hemisphere round after Argentina
Coffs Harbour is famous for its surfing and banana
plantations
The WRC’s annual gala dinner will be held on
the Monday after the rally at the Museum of
Contemporary Art in Sydney
TEAMS / DRIVERS

Michelin-equipped Yaris WRCs,
for Latvala and Lappi
