Introduction

First of all I would like to Thank You! for the download of our Raja Ampat Dive Site Guide!

The artist, who created all the drawings, is Bertho Rahawarin, works as a freelance dive guide for Suba Republic. He is originally from Ambon, and has dived Raja Ampat for some years already and knows the area very well.

The ratings for each dive site are based on the following measures.

Current

• 5 stars = strong current at all times • 4 stars = current depend on tidal movements • 3 stars = little to no current at any time

Macro Life

• 5 stars = see at least 5 of the following: sea horses, shrimp, frog fish, ghost pipe, razorfish, nudies, ribbon eels … on any dive

• 4 stars = see at least 4 of them on any dive • 3 stars = see at least 3 of them on any dive • 2 stars = see at least 2 of them on any dive • 1 star = not a macro site

Coral Life

• 5 stars = healthy and possible to see during complete dive • 4 stars = healthy but dive has some sandy patches • 3 stars = not so much coral but some at least • 2 stars = damaged or no coral

BIG fish (how good are the chances of seeing big fish)

• 5 stars every dive, • 4 stars every second dive, • 3 stars every third dive, … - • 2 stars Very rarely – not a BIG fish site • big fish include any kind of shark, Manta, Dugong, dolphin, …

Difficulty level

• 1 star = - No of dives – 4 dives • 2 stars = 5-10 dives • 3 stars = – 30 dives • 4 stars = – 100 dives • 5 stars = pro level = eg. Deep dive with tricky environment and risk of deco if not carefull.

If you would like to explore Raja Ampat even further, our well known liveaboard, the KLM Jaya spend 6 month a year in Raja Ampat, offering budget liveaboard trips. The other 6 month she sails the Komodo National Park. The super highlight however is, when she does her expedition trips for 3 weeks to sail between Raja Ampat and Komodo. Those are memorable trips, that our divers and guest think and talk about for years to come.
