Raisin in the Sun
This is going to show how people and organizations for civil rights in the 60s were related to the book the Raisin in the Sun.

W.E.B. Dubois Wasn’t shy of criticizing America’s practices Established Pan-Africanism Believed that there are common bonds which can unite different
races Supported communism Believed that blacks should have a higher education and political
jobs W.E.B. Dubois is like Asagai- against conformity
Booker T. Washington
Made the Tuskegee Institute which was a school
Believed that blacks should focus more on improving themselves through industrial education
Believed this was more important than social equality
Was more for education rather than being socially and politically equal
Booker T. Washington is like George- conformity
NAACP Benjamin Hooks was the executive director Focused on providing legal aid, organizing meetings,
and investigating injustices Published its own magazine The Crisis
- it would serve as a publicity vehicle
Made up of white and African American people
Tried to help African Americans with the racists action from the Ku Klux Klan
“Even the N double A C P takes a holiday sometimes (Hansberry 113)”
My Cultural Background
Black Native American It doesn’t factor my view on my personal identity
- it’s not who I am
- It’s a background of myself Christian- Christmas and Easter

What I took awayDuring this time there was a lot of pain
-Blacks had hard trials
-They never gave up
-Tried to keep moving along even with obstacles

-Its nice to have dreams but be responsible
-Money is not everything
-Family will always have your back
-Try to do the right thing
-Even if it’s hard to do
