STEM In green

1. magic ring 4 (4)

Cut a piece of craft wire approximately 18-20 inches long & fold it in half. Tape the ends

together so they don’t poke out. Insert the wire in the stem at any point or when it’s finished.

Note: don’t crochet super tightly or the wire won’t fit in.

Fasten off, leaving a really long tail (about 3x the length of the stem).

ASSEMBLY

• Stuff the body – the bottom of the

body should sit flat.

• Sew the body to the head.

• Stuff the tail. It should curve as you

stuff it.

• Sew the tail to the back of the body

on an angle (see picture).

The side of the tail should sit

between rounds 7&8 of the body.

The back of the tail should sit in the

middle of the back of the body.

• Sew three toes on each of the feet. Note: I didn’t make foot pads or a belly patch

because it would add too much bulk to the bottom/it wouldn’t lay flat.

• Pin the legs to the sides of the body to make sure that they sit flat & sew them to the

body.

@shea.crochet [email protected] etsy.com/ca/shop/sheacrochetxx

• Pin the tail patch on the tail & sew it to the tail. When you sew up the curved side, go

under two stitches at a time so the tail patch curves with the tail.

• Stuff the arms lightly.

• Sew the arms to the sides of the body.

• Sew three claws on the arm that won’t be holding

the leaf.

• Embroider two lines for the eyes using black

embroidery floss. The middle of the eyes should be

in the first & last increase in round 13 of the head.

They should go over approximately 3 stitches.

• Using black thread, embroider a line for the eyelid

one stitch above the eye & about 3 stitches up.

Next, embroider two nostrils between rounds 15&16

of the head.

• Cut a bunch of pieces of red & yellow yarn about 5

inches long.

• Insert your crochet hook into the stitches from the

top of the tail & pull up a loop.

Pull the tail through the loop to form a knot. Repeat

around the tail, making one half of the tail yellow &

the other half of the tail red.

@shea.crochet [email protected] etsy.com/ca/shop/sheacrochetxx

• Using your sewing needle, break the yarn

apart a bit so it’s easier to brush out.

• Using a wired pet brush, brush out the yarn on

the end of the tail.

Trim the ends a bit to shape it.

Optional: use hair gel or hair spray to hold the

tail in place.

• Fold the stem of the leaf in half & pull the rest

of the tail through to the middle of the stem.

Pin half of the stem to the leaf. It should sit

approximately three quarters of the way up

the middle of the leaf.

• Sew the stem up one side of the middle of the

leaf, & then back down the other side.

• Weave the rest of the tail through the stem to

the bottom of the stem.

• Sew one or two stitches of the stem to the

hand. Pin the other half of the stem to the

head. It should sit just behind one of the eyes.

Sew the stem to the head.

• Sew the other two claws to the hand in front

of the stem.
