Continued. . . Toucans are found in Central and South America. They

are found in tropical rainforests. They live inside the holes of hollow trees.

Toucans diet consists of mostly small fruit and insects. Toucans can grow to be somewhere around 33-65

Continued. . . Spider Monkeys are found in Central and South

America and some parts of Mexico. They live in the canopy of the rainforest. They usually do not venture to the floor.

Spider Monkeys eat fruits, insects, nuts, and insects. Spider Monkeys grow to be about 15 - 20 inches. But

their tail is about 2-3 feet. Spider Monkeys usually only have one infant at a time

(pregnancies last about 7 months.)

South America and some Caribbean islands. Boa constrictors eat birds, small rodents and lizards.

They do not eat large mammals. Boa constrictors average 6 - 14 feet in length but can

parts of Central America. They live near streams and rivers.

Poison Dart Frogs eat termites, crickets, flies and ants. Poison Dart Frogs grow to be about 1 - 7 cm in length. Poison Dart Frogs lay a group of eggs in the water

They are found in rainforests and grasslands. Jaguars eat a variety of animals including turtles and

deer. The Jaguar will grow to be approximately 5.5 - 8 ft. FemaleJaguar’s will have an approximately 100 day

pregnancy period and can give birth to 2, 3 or 4 cubs at a time.

Continued. . . Bengal tigers are found in southeast Asia, in parts of

India, China, Bangladesh and Indonesia as well as other southeast Asian countries.

Bengal Tigers' diets consists of antelopes, boars, monkeys, pigs, birds and occasionally elephants.

Their stripes aid in being able to stalk and get close to prey.

Bengal Tigers weigh around 400 - 600 lbs. They are about 5 - 10 ft. in length.

The female Bengal Tiger's pregnancy period is approximately 3 - 4 months and has a litter of

Continued. . . Gorillas live in West Central Africa mostly in Zaire,

Rwanda, and along the Congo River. They live in rainforests and mountains (usually where there are high altitudes.)

Gorillas eat mostly leaves, fruit and bark. A gorilla is approximately 350 - 400 pounds for males,

and 175 - 200 pounds for females. Their height is from 5.5 feet to 6 feet.

Gorillas are pregnant for about 8 to 9 months and have one offspring at a time.

Conclusion We decided to do our power point on

rainforest animals because there are so many different types of species. Children become fascinated with animals and enjoy learning about them!
