Instructions – Build A Word Games and Activities

Build A Word Game A game for 2 - 4 players

Getting Ready Lay the cards face down in the center.

Playing The Game The first player turns over 2 cards, a short card and a long card. The two cards are placed together to see if a word is made. If a word is made, the cards are taken and put beside the player and the player has another turn. If a word has not been made, the cards are turned over and returned to their places and the next player has a turn. Play until no cards remain or no words can be made with the remaining cards. The winner is the person with the most words at the end of the game. Please Note: In some games there may be cards left over that do not match as there may be different possible word combinations in the game.

Build A Word Competition A game for 2 players

Getting Ready Lay the cards face down in the center.

Playing The Game Each player takes 6 short cards and 6 long cards. The players then try to make as many words as they can with their cards. Each card can only be used in one word so no more than 6 words can be made by a player. The players score one point for each word that they make. Play 5 rounds as above and then tally the points for each round. The winner is the player with the most points. (Please Note: Cards cannot be placed upside down to make a word – the graphics must always be at the top of the card.)

Cut the game sheet into individual cards. The challenge is to use each of the pieces to create words with no cards being left over.

Print the game sheet onto paper. Cut the game sheet into individual cards. Use the cards to make as many words as possible then glue the words onto a sheet of paper.
