anyone needing a powerful, yet portable solution. The unit comes standard with explosion proof motors available in either single phase or three phase power and several voltage options ranging from 110 up to 600 volts. Whichever motor option you choose, you'll get heavy duty, non-impacting, continuous torque resulting in reduced stress on your operators as well as reduced wear-and tear on the equipment itself.

Other available options include a hydraulic powered lift and side shift wheels, both shown here. The hydraulic lift allows the user to adjust the rotating drive bit height with the push of a lever. This becomes very convenient with environments where capstan heights are constantly changing. The side shift allows the wheels to turn 90° in parallel with the railroad track which can be very beneficial with moving capstans or when simply moving the unit down the rail. The standard shaft length is 26”, but custom shaft lengths are available per request. The driving tip is a standard taper 1 ½” down to 1”.

®With no external power supply, the DC Door Demon could be the most versatile hopper (rail car) gate door opener available today.

Two large rechargeable (charger included) batteries allow the DC Door Demon to move anywhere in an instant. With its optional (shown) powered hydraulic adjustable vertical lift for the extension bar and drive bit, the Door Demon is easy to operate.

The Dragon is a pneumatic powered hopper gate door opener. This unit uses a 4 horsepower, air vane motor and a non-impacting planetary gear reducer for low noise and low maintenance while operating at a safe speed of 13.5 rpm (no

load). The gear reducer is designed for a lifetime of operation. This unit will develop plenty of torque with the delivery of 70 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of air at 90 psi with a ¾-inch air hose.

The Dragon comes equipped with a lubricator, air filter and ¾-inch piping. The muffler is out of the way and the exhaust is dispersed for low noise (90 decibels) operation.

The picture above shows a Dragon equipped with optional powered (hydraulic) vertical adjustment to accommodate varying capstan heights and side-shifting wheels for easy maneuvering in difficult working environments. The standard shaft length is 26", but custom shaft lengths are commonly made per request. The drive bit features a standard taper of 1 ½" down to 1".

Our “Fly” beam mounted units offer a permanent and powerful solution for opening your toughest hopper gates safely and productively. This is our most economical powered door opener but still is as strong as the rest. We use a hydraulic motor to turn the capstan. This unit will tie into your hydraulic system via the utility connectors and is operated by the driver from the seat of the fork-equipped device.

®A flow control on this Door Demon will regulate the flow to 4 gallons per minute. Most forklifts operate above our desired flow, so this is usually not a problem.

The shaft length for the “Fork Devil” is totally manufactured to meet your need. We will make it fit on most fork-equipped devices. The fork pockets of this unit are 6 5/8” wide (inside width).

®The “Quick-Tach” - Skid Steer Mounted Door Demon weighs just under 400 lbs. We use the standard quick attach mounting system. If yours is different from “standard”, we can usually accommodate your situation.

This unit has two pivoting points. The boom itself goes both left and right, then the head also turns left and right. These positions are locked in place with a simple 1” pin. The Demon has a 5-foot reach in all directions so it is past the tires and will clear many obstacles.

The hydraulic hoses hook into your auxiliary line with controls to the driver. The flow controls require 4 gallons per minute. This pressure is obtained by most skid steers and is usually no problem.

Ideal for open areas with challenging terrain where space is not a restriction, the Spider offers major stability in a unique three wheel design. Since you cannot tip the unit forward to engage the capstan, a hydraulic arm with cylinder will move the drive bit from 6” to 20” above the working surface allowing the user to easily adjust the height as needed. This is the number one vibrator where high frequency vibration is required. In railcar applications, this vibrator is used with a universal lug and wedge bracket. This assembly allows for quick release of the vibrator in order to move to the next rail car.

Quick Mount Electric Vibrator

Alignment is automatic with the vibrator clawinserted into the lower end of the cradle bracket.

“Door Buster”The Arnold Company is proud to introduce our latest in freight car opening units, the “Door Buster”!

The plug door opener mechanism is designed to open freight car plug doors

without the danger of physical stress to the operator. The plug door opener mechanism can be operated from the seat of a fork truck/lift keeping the worker

safely away from the stored energy in the plug door.

The winch part of our unit uses two 9500 pound winches to make pulling open and closed even the toughest of freight car

doors easy and safe. We use a synthetic rope that will “lay down” if cut instead of the whipping effect of a cable or chain.

This unit uses 2 group 24 batteries with 500 cca (cold cranking amps) each that are used in parallel in a 12-volt system. This is a deep cycle marine battery. You can replace these at any auto parts store. This unit comes with a “Quick Charge” (brand name) 12-volt charger that couples to the unit with a standard connector. The recharge from dead takes about 4 hours. As with all smart chargers, this one will drop to a trickle and go into a maintenance mode when left on for extended periods.

“Bully”Boxcar Plug Door Opener

Opener Features:Designed to open boxcar plug doors without the danger of physical stress or injury to the operator.

Operated (via magnetic control module) from the seat of a forklift device

Powered by two 12-volt batteries which operate a hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump operates a hydraulic motor which turns the self-adjusting power arm that engages the plug door handle (opens the plug door).

The self-adjusting power arm rotates at around 20 rpm.

Since the power arm is self-adjusting (spring-loaded to retract as the plug door opens and extend as the door closes), the forklift will not have to be moved as the plug door opens/closes. Once the plug door is opened, you can use the extended side arm to slide the door open.
