Rail Engineering Opportunities – Middle East Halcrow has been involved in major rail projects around the world for over a century. Our current portfolio of rail projects includes Crossrail in London, Poland’s first high-speed railway and the Delhi Airport Metro Express Link in India. We’re looking for experienced rail specialists to join our Middle East team working on a variety of urban, light and freight rail projects in the region. You’ll have international experience in the design, specification and procurement of new-build rail projects. You’ll also be passionate and driven, and believe in sustaining and improving the quality of people’s lives through engineering innovation and exceptional project delivery. We have short-term contracts and permanent positions available, most of which are based in the UAE and Qatar, although other Middle East locations are also available. Opportunities Available • Civil engineering manager/design manager: 20 years’ experience in design

and delivery of new-build metro, LRT and underground metro projects including bored tunnelling, civil infrastructure D&B and railway systems EPC contracts. Additional experience in design and delivery of freight rail projects highly regarded.

• Rail systems manager/designer: 20 years’ experience in general rail systems

with expertise in at least one discipline and experience in design, specification and delivery of new-build metro or LRT projects utilising rail systems EPC contracts. Additional experience in freight rail projects highly regarded.

• Rail operations and maintenance (O&M) specialist: 15 years’ experience in

operational planning of rail projects. Previous employment with an internationally recognised metro operator highly regarded.

• Permanent way engineer: 10 years’ experience working on metro and LRT

projects required. Additional experience in freight rail, high speed rail and/or depot planning highly regarded.

• Rail civil engineer/project manager: 15 years’ experience in rail civil

engineering. Experienced in leading and managing rail design teams. • Rail safety and assurance engineer: 15 years’ experience in leading, managing

and performing rail safety, systems assurance and compliance activities for rail

projects. Sound knowledge of systems engineering and systems integration for rail projects.

• Stations civil and structural engineer/design team leader: 15 years’

experience in civil engineering design and design management for new-build underground metro stations. Experience in preparing station civil and structural designs, and leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team in delivering design documentation for stations. Experience as both client’s designer and designer for D&B projects highly regarded.

• Rail transit station planner/station architect: 15 years’ experience in planning

and design of new-build underground metro stations. Sound knowledge of life safety, M&E systems and tunnel ventilation requirements for underground stations. Experience in preparing station preliminary designs and leading architectural specialists to deliver design documentation and specifications for stations.

• Tunnel design engineer: 15 years’ experience in design and specification of

bored tunnels and shafts in soft ground and mixed ground conditions. Additional experience in NATM and sprayed rock tunnelling, as well as fulltime on-site experience in construction of bored tunnel by TBM construction highly regarded.

• Stations M&E engineer/design team leader: 10 to 15 years’ experience in

design and specification of underground station M&E systems including sound knowledge of tunnel ventilation systems. Experience in preparing station preliminary M&E designs and leading a team of M&E engineers to deliver design documentation and specifications for station M&E systems.

• Rolling stock engineer: 10 to 15 years’ experience in specification and

procurement of passenger-carrying rolling stock, and testing and commissioning rolling stock. Additional experience in specification and procurement of freight rolling stock and locomotives highly regarded.

• Signalling/SCADA engineer: 15 years’ experience in design and specification of

signalling and SCADA systems including testing and commissioning. Additional experience in design, specification and commissioning of ATS and ATP train control systems highly regarded.

• Power/electrical systems engineer: 10 years’ experience in design and

specification of power and electrical systems for rail projects. • Communications engineer: 10 years’ experience in design and specification of

communications systems for rail projects. • Depot and maintenance facilities engineer: 10 years’ experience in planning

and specification of depot and maintenance facilities and equipment for passenger-carrying rolling stock and freight rail systems.

• Tunnel ventilation engineer: 10 to 15 years’ experience in modelling, design,

specification and testing of tunnel ventilation systems for rail projects. • System engineer/system integration engineer: 10 years’ experience in new-

build metro and/or LRT projects, with involvement on at least one project from design to operation.

• Rail planner/project controls manager: 10 to 15 years’ experience in rail

planning and project controls functions. • Rail QS/cost engineer: 10 years’ experience in preparation of capital and O&M

costs for new-build metro and/or LRT and freight rail projects. • Bid manager: Experience in co-ordinating and preparing consultancy bids for rail
