Ragnar Trail Tahoe 2017 Runner's Packet Hey There Tahoe Trail Runners!!! Looking forward to Ragnar Trail Tahoe 2017 at Royal Gorge!!! This is going to be an awesome race and we hope you're just as excited as we are!!! This Runner Packet is here to help you navigate the venue and all the most important moving parts that make up Ragnar Trail Tahoe. As the race gets closer this packet may morph to reflect changes and additions to the race. The link you clicked on to get here will always take you to the most up-to-date document. Venue Description The venue for Ragnar Trail Tahoe is Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Resort which is the largest cross- country ski resort in North America. Located in Soda Springs, California, the resort offers 65 trails and about 195 kilometers of skiable terrain. Royal Gorge opened in 1971 with about 10km of track. In 2012, the property went into foreclosure and the nearly 6,000 acres was purchased by the Truckee Donner Land Trust so that it will be forever protected. This purchase is considered one of the most important conservation victories for the Sierra region in a generation. The Land Trust's goal is to make the property as popular in summer as it is in the winter with trails for mountain bikers, hikers, and equestrians. 2017 Course The course remains the same as in previous years with one exception. The finish of the Red Loop now runs through the Serene Lakes neighborhood to join the Green and Yellow Loops earlier towards the finish. This will cut down on a little bit of elevation and, more importantly, keep runners off of Soda Springs and Pahatsi Roads. We ask that you note however that you will be running through a neighborhood so please be respectful and keep noise on that section of the course to a minimum. Course Change Area
