Ragging and Bullying - Menaces

We often come across the word ‘Ragging’ and its consequences in our day to day life. But do we actually know what ragging is all about?

Ragging is defined as light vein, cracking jokes but at the expense of others. Ragging is real fun if done in the right spirit. Traditionally, it is meant to break the ice between the new and old students. Generally, ragging involves seniors making the freshers dance, sing songs, enact something or run errands for them.

We all have a negative attitude towards the word ‘Ragging’ as we always tend to see the negative side of it, which I would say is NOT wrong, as, we make ragging an unhealthy practice. The second paragraph written on the topic ‘ragging’ is all history now. Ragging is now taking on ugly turn as freshers are building up “ragging phobia”. The modern trend of ragging is obnoxious. Students are physically and mentally harassed. They are made to do rather indecent things like removing their clothes or being strip-teased in public. Ragging is going to such an extent that students are forced to take extreme steps out of embarrassment. Giving up of studies to even committing of suicides out of mental disgrace are now the common consequences of modern ragging steps should be taken that seniors do not use political cloud and make ragging a menace.

There is another word alike ragging but the only difference is in the spelling of two words – ‘Bullying’.

We, the school guys are familiar with the word bullying. Aren’t we? Bulling is practiced in almost each class in every school around the globe. Bullying is mainly practiced by the seniors or by the ‘Dada’s’ of the class, who try to enforce their supremacy over the juniors or those fellows who are a bit afraid in the class, by threatening them or by showing them what is called Gang Power. I would say those who bully others are cowards themselves, videlicet, they fear competing with their equals and thereby showing their superiority to the mere ones.

Bullying creates fear among the kids and so they hate or are rather afraid of going to school because of so called SENIORS. Strict action should be taken by the School Authorities to stop these kinds of ‘Non–Sense’ in schools.
