5 New Features
Feature Description
1. HSU Capacity Upgrade
Small form factor Subscriber Units (HSUs) now offer software capacity
upgrades from 5Mbps to 10 Mbps and up to 25 Mbps
Capacity Upgrade is valid for all bands, regulations and configurations
Capacity upgrade can be performed for each HSU individually or for the
entire sector via the HBS
Following PO, Software upgrade keys can be obtained from:
http://www.radwin.com/updates/LicenseKey/lk-radwin.htm
Supported by installed base through software upgrade to release 3.4 GA
2. FIPS-197
FIPS-197 is a U.S. government computer security standard that specifies
approved cryptographic algorithm to protect electronic data
Compliance with the Federal FIPS-197 standard, enabling secured
information transfer when utilizing RADWIN 5000 products in federal
agency deployments
RADWIN NIST Validation number: 2270
Validation publication:
http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/STM/cavp/documents/aes/aesval.html
Certified products:
1. Small-form-factor HSU-505/510/525
2. HBS-5025 Series
3. Provider Tagging Enhancement
Ability to configure VLAN provider TPID (Tag Protocol Identifier) per each
HSU in the Sector
Enable interoperability with legacy switches (e.g. Cisco) that supports TPID
of 0x8100 only
Configurable TPID values:
1. 0x9100 (default)
2. 0x8100
3. 0x88A8
Supported by installed base through software upgrade to release 3.4 GA
4. RADWIN Manager Frequency Band
Display
RADWIN Manager displays the occupied bandwidth per Channel bandwidth
and Frequency Band instead of the previous display that was based on Center
Frequency
6 Compatibility Component
Name Description
1. Software
Upgrade
Software upgrade can be applied to any previous RADWIN 5000 releases.
RADWIN 5000 Release 3.4 GA is not compatible with RADWIN 5000 prior to release 3.3 GA,
due to a new Air interface protocol. This means that HSUs that running release older than 3.3,
cannot synchronize to HBS that running release 3.4 and vice versa. Software Upgrade to release
3.4 is required for the HBS and all the HSUs in the sector.
In respect of a software upgrade for a sector operating in the 5.4 FCC band and for which the
operating channel is within the frequency range 5600 - 5650 MHz: The software upgrade will
enable ACS for all the available channels.
In respect of a software upgrade for a sector operating in 4.9 Universal band and for which the
operating channel is within the frequency range of 4990 - 5000 MHz: The software upgrade will
enable ACS for all the available channels (for further details, refer to line 2 in the Limitation
section below).
2. Software
Downgrade Software downgrade from release 3.4 GA to release 3.2.75 LA is not available, thus RADWIN
5000 units with release version prior to 3.3 should be upgraded to 3.4 GA for compatibility.

Description
3. Firmware
RADWIN 5000 Radios are not compatible with WinLink 1000 or RADWIN 2000 Radios.
The new features listed above require release 3.4 on both the HBS and its HSUs.
Additional restrictions are listed below:
Older than Release 3.3 Release 3.3 and above
Release
3.4
Software upgrade is required to release
3.4, due to a new Air interface protocol
Fully compatible, Software upgrade is
recommended to release 3.4 to support the new
features in this release
4. RADWIN
Manager
1. Support all RADWIN products.
2. Overrides older RADWIN Manager installations, 8.5.30 and below.
3. Uses .NET 4.0 (included in the package, first installation might take several minutes).
4. Supported OS: Windows XP SP2 and higher, Windows Vista 32/64, Windows Server 2003 32, Win7
32/64bits, Windows Server 2008 32/64bits, Win8.

7 Resolved Issues Issue Name Description Resolution
1. HBS-5025 Sync-Loss
In rare cases, HBS-5025 Sector that contains
mixed of HSUs from HW Rev. 2 and Rev. 6
and the HSUs are installed in a very close
proximately, and the mutual interference level
between the HSUs is above -30dBm, HSU
from Rev. 6 might suffer from continues sync
loss after link establishment
Resolved
2. Mobility RSS Threshold
Occasionally, RSS Threshold for synchronize
is not accurate and HMU unit might
synchronize with HBS that its RSS level is
lower than the RSS threshold by 15dB
Resolved
3. RNMS - Click on unit‟s
icon doesn‟t open
RADWIN Manager
In RNMS, RADWN Manager doesn‟t open
when the user clicks on the unit‟s icon Resolved
8 Known Issues from previous releases
8.1 HBS/HSU Issues
Issue Name Description Workaround
1. Missing SNMP Traps
Some SNMP traps might be missing after
HBS reset :
- HBS ready
- Management port status changed to
disconnected
Not service affected
2. Channel BW change
problem
Channel bandwidth switch from 10 to 20 MHz
on edge channels (Center frequency that is not
available on 20MHz) fails without
notification, and the sector continues to work
on 10MHz
Change frequency to a none edge channel
and change the channel bandwidth to
20MHz
3. HSU Device Reset
Occasionally, HSU reset may occur under full
capacity traffic at steady state under
20/40MHz channel BW
HSU Link recovers automatically after reset
4. Multiple HSMs
If a HBS is set as HSC-CT and detects
Multiple HSS sources with different Tx ratios,
its own Tx ratio changes continuously (trap is
send every second)
Remove redundant HSMs
5. Min Tx Power
In FCC/ETSI frequency bands the Minimum
Tx power can be set to a value of -11dBm
whereas the minimum should be -8dBm.
Set Minimum Tx power to -8dBm
6. Traffic Block Traffic does not pass from HSU to HSU
where a HBS LAN cable is disconnected
Reconnect HBS LAN cable and traffic
resumes
7. QoS
Best Effort priority queue throughput is
occasionally smaller by 10% than the
configured weight
8. LAN Port 100HD
Occasionally, when the HSU LAN port is
configured to auto-negotiate mode and it is
operating with equipment configured to
100FD, traffic might not be transferred under
100HD.
Change the mode of the equipment
connected to the HSU to auto-negotiate
mode and reset HSU device
9. HBS/HSU sync loss In rare cases, HBS/HSU sync loss may occur
under high interference and traffic load Link recovers automatically after sync loss
10. HBS sync time In rare cases, HBS sync time might be longer
than expected and can reach up to 20 seconds
RADWIN 5000 - Release 3.4
Release Note
14-Feb-13
Issue Name Description Workaround
11. HBS Ethernet Service
In rare cases, After multiple Sector sync loss
the Ethernet service may not be available
although Ethernet service display is active in
the RADWIN Manager
Perform HBS device reset
12. HBS/HSU Sync-Loss
Sync loss may occur once decreasing
HBS/HSU Tx power by 10dBm or more at
once
Link recovers after sync loss
automatically
Decreasing Tx power gradually
13. HBS/HSU BIT Failure
In a very rare cases, HBS/HSU might enter
into "BIT failed" state after device reset, while
no actual BIT error
Perform HBS/HSU device reset
14. Wrong SNMP Trap
Description
In rare cases , once disconnecting HSS pulse
cable from HSC site, the SNMP Trap reason
is "Improper Sync pulse" instead "Sync pulse
disappeared"
Ignore wrong trap description
15. Wrong RSS Display
Wrong RSS displayed on Link in Diversity
Antenna mode, when one of antenna ports is
physically disconnected
Ignore wrong RSS values and connect
antenna port

8.2 RADWIN Manager Issues
Issue Name Description Workaround
1. RADWIN Manager
termination
In rare cases, RADWIN Manager may
terminate under LAN cable disconnection and
