They are classified into three types:
1. Superior radioulnar joint
2. Middle radioulnar joint
3. Inferior radioulnar joint

Type - Pivot type of synovial joint

Middle Radio Ulnar joint is formedmy the interosseous membrane
which connects the radius and ulna. The fibers run downwards from
radius to ulna
The direction of Oblique cord isopposite to that of interosseousmembrane.

Functions of interosseous
membrane:
1. It binds the radius ulna to eachother
2. It provides attachments to manymuscles
3. It transmits forces applied to the
radius to the ulna. Radius is theimportant bone in wrist joint andulna is the main bone in elbow joint

There are two movements they are supinationand pronation

Its a rotatory movement in the forearm aroundthe vertical axis .
In semi flexed elbow the palm is turned
upwards is called as supination This movement takes place in both inferior and
superior radioulnar joint
The vertical axis moves forwards and mediallyduring supination
As a result of this movement the axis isdisplaced medially

Supination is more powerful than pronationdue to its antigravity movement
It is responsible for all screwing movment E.g. tightening nuts and bolds
It is brought about by supinator and biceps
brachii.

Its a rotatory movement in the forearm around thevertical axis
In semi flexed elbow the palm is turneddownwards is called as pronation
The vertical axis moves backwards and laterallyduring pronation
As a result of this movement the axis is displacedlaterally
It is brought about by pronator quadratus andpronator teres

Tennis elbow:
Abrupt pronation with full extended elbow
and lead to pain and tenderness over the lateralepicondyle
Cause:
1. Sprain of radial collateral ligament2. Tearing of fibers of extensor carpi radialis
brevis

Students elbow or miners elbow:
It is characterized by effusion into the bursa
into the subcutaneous posterior surface ofolecranon
E.g. students in lecture support their head for
sleeping with their hands with flexed elbows Golfers elbow:
It is micro trauma of medial epicondyle ofhumerus
If the carrying angle is more(normal 13 degree)cubitus valgus ulnar nerve may get stretchedleading to the weakness of intrinsic muscles
