spot where the Kerr had to be aban-doned. This Is enough time in theopinion of every seafaring man whoknows that portion of the ocean. It Isthe belief that the ship will be foundclose to French Frigate Shoals, if in-

deed it has not been cast upon the reefsthere. The ship could not drift far inthe current which was noticed by thecaptain before he abandoned ship andafter, but would be hampered In hermovements with that current by thewinds. , The current when noted wasrunning three-fourt- hs knot an hour. The direction was to the west-northwe- st,

but the winds were not in accordand the ship would not make greatprogress. When the Mikahala reachesthe spot where the Kerr was aban-doned there will have elapsed 18 daysand during the more than 430 hoursthere might have been travelled sev-eral hundred miles.

It is the universal opinion that therewill be something like $50,000 In thesalvage proposition if the ship isfound, which would give to the com-pany a substantial profit.
