Story of My Lost

Mobile Phone

Salik Khan

In 2011, the year I passed matric, I was promised by my father (Abbu) that the award for a good Grade in matric would be an expensive mobile phone. I passed matric with A-Grade and was awarded with an expensive Nokia phone. I used that phone for about two weeks only and then I came to know that the model which I bought had a defect and the phone is not good for long term use.

got really worried and reconfirmed this information with several people dealing in

this field and got the same answer every time. Being a much disciplined man, Abbu doesn’t like this unnecessary buying and selling of mobile phones, specially the used ones. However, due to some extra ordinary favours and special support from my mother, I sold my mobile on a lesser price than the one I bought it, with a strong hope that I could buy a better mobile soon. Couple of days passed and I was living without a mobile phone. Then one of my friends told me that he has a nokia phone of one of the latest model and he wanted to sell it. It was an imported phone from UK. Although it was used; but the condition of the phone was as good as a new one. I examined that phone, checked it from each and every angle. After satisfying myself, I decided to buy that phone. But the main problem was that this phone was of more value than the amount I had from selling my previous mobile. Again I had to ask for support and favour of my parents. I was not sure whether Abbu will allow me to purchase that mobile. Next day, it was Saturday, the day we used to go to our nani's house, I don’t know how, but I collected all my courage and asked Abbu for the remaining money. I was so delighted when Abbu signaled OK for my

selected mobile. It definitely had a role of my mother as well in it. I ran to my friend's house and without any hesitation I gave money to him and took the mobile and its accessories. It was an excellent phone with outstanding features. I modified my phone by installing unique software, applications, games and lot more. I loved my phone so much that I was determined to resist any attempt, God forbid, of even gunpoint snatching, although I knew that was stupid of me and could cost my life. I used that phone for more than 6 months then something happened, which I could not forget.

t was December, one day we went for shopping, on the way back home I saw an

ordinary stall where the mobile pouches were being sold. I went to that stall and asked for a special rubber pouch for my phone for which I was searching since I bought the phone. Surprisingly, I found that particular pouch at that ordinary, road-side stall. I was really happy that I finally got the pouch for which I was searching for so long. The same day in the morning, I scanned my phone, cleared all the viruses and formatted the phone and memory card. When I came back home, my friends were waiting for me near my house. Abbu and Ammi went home and I went with my friends
